Senior Reservoir Simulation Engineer
Activities

Develop simulation model input data:

Create fluid properties tables based on PVT reports or black-oil correlation.

Generate hydraulic tables using Integrated Production Modeling tools (e.g., IPM – Prosper).

Extract capillary pressure and displacement functions from SCAL reports.

Construct or update reservoir simulation models:

Determine appropriate layering and gridding.

Extract properties from geologic models and scale up to simulation grid.

Perform model initialization, history matching, and run predictive cases.

Evaluate and integrate surveillance data for history matching, including:

MDT data

Production rates and pressures

Production logs and other surveillance sources

Display, interpret, and export simulation results; communicate reservoir behaviour to geologists and reservoir engineers.

Collaborate with geologists and reservoir engineers to refine model inputs and integrate dynamic simulation insights.

Implement well operations and production strategies in the reservoir simulator.

Update simulation models using lab data, surveillance results, and geological models.

Analyze and compare development strategies, including:

Development modes (e.g., water or gas injection)

Well types, patterns, and spacing

Reservoir management strategies

Contribute to the preparation of long-term development and reservoir management programs in coordination with:

Geology

Development Planning

Drilling

Major Projects

Operations departments

Track progress against work plans, prepare contingency plans, and recommend adjustments based on results.

Forecast production profiles for WP&B, 5-Year Outlook, and long-term planning, ensuring coordination with relevant teams.

Investigate subsurface uncertainties and propose mitigation strategies:

Design and assess development pilots

Recommend reservoir appraisal activities

Identify and evaluate capacity enhancement opportunities such as:

Waterflood optimization

Workovers

Infill wells

Field development projects

Recommend new well placements and support new well planning:

Assist in geological design

Participate in planning and post-drill evaluations

Support the Reservoir Management Team in solving production challenges, e.g., poor waterflood response or early water breakthrough.

Provide relief and support for the group lead when needed.

Ensure adherence to professional engineering standards and practices.

Train and mentor junior or less experienced staff.
