Senior Researcher - The Pharmacotyping Resource (Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences)
We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative-minded Senior Researcher in the Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Department to support activities in the Center for Translational Pharmacology and the Clinical Pharmacokinetics Laboratory. This is an onsite full-time position. This position will support the collection and processing of research and clinical specimens (e.g., pharmacokinetics, pharmacogenomics and pharmacodynamics-related samples), always working towards the department’s mission of advancing clinical research and ensuring effective use of medications in children with catastrophic diseases. The department has a strong emphasis on pharmacology and pharmacogenomics research that will translate to improving patient therapy. The position may share with other staff after-hours and weekend on-call coverage of activities. You will work as part of a talented interdisciplinary team of clinicians, clinical research associates and scientists receiving, processing, and documenting biological samples collected from patients to help to ensure that every patient receiving drug therapy at St. Jude does so in a manner to achieve the best possible outcomes. The Senior Researcher will work under the direction of Dr. Kristine Crews within Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Pharmacotyping Resource is a translational laboratory with a strong emphasis on functional precision medicine and collaborative pharmacogenomics research that will translate to improving patient therapy. The resource uses a state-of-the-art fluorescence imaging platform to test drug sensitivity profiles (pharmacotyping) of a variety of pathologic tissues obtained from children with catastrophic diseases, with a focus on pediatric cancer. The Senior Researcher will have the unique opportunity to support clinical testing that will influence patient care, as well as participate in the design and conduct of pharmacogenomics research studies. You will work as part of a talented interdisciplinary team of scientists. Job Responsibilities: Perform procedures using established techniques with efficiency and independence. Provide some lab operational support with knowledge of the lab environment. Execute complex procedures (e.g., DNA extraction) and provide basic troubleshooting of experiments. Accurately record experimental procedures and data. Prepare and report results/data leading to posters, presentations, or publications. Ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. What you bring: Working knowledge and understanding of underlying concepts and principles of experimental design. Prior experience with handling and documenting clinical research samples. Positive attitude and good interpersonal skills. Strong organizational techniques and the ability to handle a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment. Minimum Education and/or Training: Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific area is required. Minimum Experience: Two (2) years of relevant, post-degree work experience is required. No experience is required with a Master's degree. Compensation In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $60,320 - $105,040 per year for the role of Senior Researcher - The Pharmacotyping Resource (Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences).
