Astellas is announcing a **Senior Research Associate** opportunity at their Astellas Engineered Small Molecules US site in Cambridge, MA. **Purpose and Scope:** The primary focus of this position is to conduct high quality bench research and to perform in vitro and/or in vivo assays that will contribute to our drug discovery efforts. This individual will work with team to ensure program goal under the close communication with internal and external stakeholders. In addition, individual will plan and perform in vitro/in vivo studies to obtain key data for the program milestones. Responsibilities will also include development and evaluate of in vitro/in vivo studies. **Essential Job Responsibilities:** This position directly impacts our ability to prosecute our company goals of maintaining an early-stage pipeline of potential drug candidates. The measures of success are the advancement of new targets through the successive stages of the drug discovery pipeline. Their components are: + Efficient and technically competent execution of lab work designed to advance early-stage projects. + Accountable for the timeliness and quality of own scientific workload. + Accountable for integrity of data generated for scientific projects. + With keeping in mind our behavioral guidelines, acts as a role model for responsible adherence to team or policies, procedures, and guidelines for conducting work. + Accurately interpret experimental data, perform statistical analysis, formulate conclusions, and communicate data with colleagues. + Maintenance of accurate and up to date records of experimental data. + Presentation of data at regular internal meetings. + Report to manager and program lead. **Qualifications:** **Required** + Bachelor’s degree (BS), Master’s degree (MS) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in relevant scientific field that provides knowledge of theories, principles and concepts within biological sciences or similar discipline. + BS with minimum 5+ years of drug discovery experience + MS with minimum 3+ years of drug discovery experience + PhD with minimum 0-1+ years of drug discovery experience + Proficiency in cell handling and tissue culture techniques. + Strong background in molecular biology, including DNA, RNA, and protein-related methodologies. + Competence in designing, developing, and executing wide range of in vitro assays and/or in vivo animal models. + Demonstrated experience in assay development, particularly for novel entities or targets. + Skilled in in vivo tissue processing and biological sample analysis. + In-depth understanding of pharmacology, particularly in non-clinical drug discovery research settings. + Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment. + Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills with scientific attention to detail. + Able to work productively and to participate in a highly creative and fast-paced environment. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. **Preferred** + General knowledge of drug discovery processes with 3+ years of industry experience, particularly in a pharmaceutical or biotech company setting. + Drug discovery experience in multiple disease areas, such as oncology and Immunology. + A strong track record of contributing to successful drug discovery and development projects. + Experience with cutting-edge molecular biology techniques. + Deep understanding of in vivo disease models. + Experience in the development and validation of non-clinical pharmacological models. + Candidates with experience in antibody research (e.g., antibody-drug conjugates), synthetic biology, or protein engineering will be a plus. **Benefits:** + Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance + Generous Paid Time Off options, including Vacation, Sick time, plus national holidays including Heritage Days, and Summer and Winter Breaks + 401(k) match and annual company contribution + Company paid life insurance + Annual Corporate Bonus and Quarterly Sales Incentive for eligible positions + Long Term Incentive Plan for eligible positions + Referral bonus program \#LI-TD Category Engineered Small Molecules US/UK Astellas is committed to equality of opportunity in all aspects of employment.
