Senior Reliability Engineer
A Day in Your Life at MKS: As a Senior Reliability Engineer at Photon Control Inc., a subsidiary of MKS Instruments, Inc. you play a key role in provide reliability engineering leadership by advising product development teams, mentoring junior engineers, developing and implementing reliability engineering processes within Photon Control Inc. In this role, you will report to the Test Engineering Manager. You Will Make an Impact By: + Understand overall customer product requirements and how they relate to reliability engineering + Lead the development of reliability prediction and assessment models + Provide reliability mathematical analysis and technical inputs to ensure a robust design of customer products + Lead the Failure Modes Effects Analysis for early design + Define adequate reliability test portfolios, including accelerated stress screening and environmental stress testing, on new designs, processes, or materials + Work with other test and reliability engineers to oversee and perform reliability tests in a timely manner + Interface with design team to conduct failure analysis and address potential failure mode mitigation/elimination to at least the subsystem level. Track mitigation or elimination of failures modes to assess improvements and update analysis by evaluating test results + Perform reliability predictions and derating analysis to establish MTTF estimates and component failure rates of electronic devices + Maintain the reliability lab and equipment to ensure adequate capability to support sustaining and development programs + Develop and maintain test documentation, including test plans, test procedures, and test reports + Use statistical analysis software to analyze data and draw data-based conclusions + Mentor junior test and reliability engineers and technicians in best practices + Coach fellow engineers on reliability engineering concepts and techniques Skills You Bring: + Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline + 8+ years hands-on experience in reliability engineering + Expert level of knowledge in reliability with a focus on DFMEA, reliability assessment and demonstration testing, and reliability predictions on electronic devices and mechanical assemblies + Extensive knowledge of reliability models and standards and ability to apply them with flexibility when conducting reliability analyses + High comfort level with operating and maintaining reliability test equipment, including but not limited to environmental chambers, and vibration test systems etc + Skilled in statistical data analysis using Microsoft Excel and JMP/Minitab + Strong interpersonal communication and team skills + Extensive experience preparing and presenting technical information to peers and to all levels of internal management Preferred Skills: + ASQ certified reliability engineer or quality engineer + Familiar with reliability software, such as Reliasoft, Relyence etc + Experience with reviewing and evaluating electrical circuit diagrams and mechanical engineering drawings highly desirable + Experience with optical systems + P. Eng. or P. Compensation: Salary Pay Range: $80,000 to 127,100 per year.
