Senior Relationship Manager

Job Summary

What will you do?

Senior Relationship Management (SRM) is a cross-product function for client coverage, accountable for the success of the global RBC relationship. Members of the SRM team act as account managers, RBC ambassadors and trusted advisors to clients spanning across the following sectors: banks, real money managers, hedge funds, insurance companies, and financial sponsors.

This is a Vice President level position within SRM supporting U.S. Banks coverage.

Job Description

What will you do?

External Client Coverage:

Lead the coverage effort for a defined portfolio of SRM Bank clients. These institutions will be among the largest, most complex, financial institutions globallyCoordinate with product groups and other functional partners to evaluate and generate new business ideas and opportunitiesResponsible for coordinating and delivering the Bank’s global platform as “one firm” to the clientDevelop and maintain external relationships with covered institutions, which may include including heads of various trading desks/operations, directors of development and strategy, counterpart Senior Relationship Managers and Treasury groupsLead efforts to optimize the use of resources in increasing RBC Capital Markets’ product penetration and total relationship revenues

Internal Business Strategy:

Perform analyses to help drive decisions regarding performance and long-term strategies including client targeting and competitor analysis, focused on U.S. banks.Facilitate translation of business strategy into product strategy by engaging all relevant business and functional teamsDevelop close working relationships internally with SRMs globally, as well as salespeople, traders, originators, syndicate, corporate banking & investment bankers;Protect RBC’s Balance Sheet, understanding risk & rewards of credit commitments, working closely with internal partners and risk management stakeholders.In partnership with Global Markets Sales leaders, coordinate and prepare materials to assist and lead account planning efforts

Front Office:

Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the businessReview and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activitiesEscalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions on a timely basisKey representative of the business in cross-business, cross-functional initiatives and processes

Key Relationships:

Act as lead relationship manager on select bank relationshipsDevelop strong relationships internally, including partnering closely with:GM Senior ManagementInvestment BankingCorporate BankingFIG Risk SolutionsSales & TradingGlobal Business ManagersGlobal Markets (Spread Products, Macro Products, Equities, Central Funding)Other Partners across Capital Markets & RBC Asset Management, Corporate Treasury, City National and the RBC EnterpriseBuild strong relationships with key functional areas including Group Risk Management, Operations, Compliance, HR, etc.Develop strong external professional relationships

Working Conditions:

Trading desk environment with minimal travel expected (0% - 10%)You will be expected to work at the office 4+ days per week.

What do you need to succeed?

Basic Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree (business, finance or related field preferred)Minimum 6-10 years financial industry experience, with a strong understanding of capital markets & the regulatory framework for banksDemonstrate proven impact and influence skills to engage cross-functional team membersFoster an environment based on transparency and responsibility to drive superior client experience and to optimize business resultsDetail and goal oriented / organized and results-drivenAbility to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment

The good-faith expected salary for the above position is $225,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.  This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
