MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To support the Nursing Manager in leading and coordinating safe, quality patient care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

Support the Nursing Manager to achieve quality patient care in the operating theatre in line with the hospital's operational goals and objectives

Manage patient risks to achieve patient safety in line with specified clinical outcomes

Ensure a positive patient experience in line with corporate benchmarks

Ensure optimal utilization of a competent and engaged workforce 

Lead and manage direct reports

Manage the assets in the operating theatre complex

Manage the theatre's operational and capital expenses according to the financial and budget guidelines and ensure optimal utilisation of resources

Establish and manage key stakeholders relationships to achieve integrated patient care and positive clinical outcomes

REQUIRED EDUCATION

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION:  Degree/ Diploma in General Nursing, Post graduate qualification in Operating Theatre Science

DESIRED EDUCATION:  Additional Nursing Qualification

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:  2-3 Years in a Supervisory role

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:  Private hospital experience

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Infection prevention and control Auditing and accreditation processes Budgeting and budget control skills Clinical risk management Computer literacy (MS Office package) Continuous improvement and quality assurance methodologies Critical Care, Theatre or Emergency Nursing Science Healthcare industry knowledge Patient complaint management Productivity management in nursing Relevant nursing legislation Theatre environment and operations Human resource processes including employee relations Nursing processes and procedures
