Is a senior subject matter expert in the areas of product safety and systems to control product safety risks. Speaks with authority and influences within and outside the company. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles. 

As a senior quality assurance manager, you will… 

Contribute expert perspective to support development of Global QA strategy. Leads the identification and development of systems and programs to implement strategy and monitors performance of the QA system in order to identify opportunities for improvement. Contribute to development of department mission, annual priorities and operating budget. Determine and manages appropriate mitigation steps and solutions to resolve potentially serious product safety or quality issues. Influence direction of cross functional teams as the Quality, Product Safety and Regulatory expert in the development and commercialization of new food, beverage and merchandise items or major new retail level programs. Interface with outside experts and organizations to keep Starbucks Coffee Company up to date in Quality Assurance strategy, techniques and best practices. Lead evaluation and development of programs to drive improvements for new and existing suppliers. Influences SCO in selection of and termination of poor performing suppliers. Lead the identification and definition of QA metrics capable of tracking Quality System performance. Lead the troubleshooting of complex, broadscale quality, product safety and regulatory issues arising from retail stores, regulators and customers. Identifies the root cause, required corrective actions and assure effective resolution. Leverage expertise to represents Starbucks in explaining and defending Food Safety Programs and Practices with Regulators. Mentor and trains more junior QA team members in knowledge of Starbucks Quality System and advanced problem solving. Plan, develops and leads QA program improvements. Leads projects to develop new and improve existing Quality Assurance systems and procedures. Represent QA perspective to innovation efforts in categories new to Starbucks Authority for hold and release of ready to drink and roast & ground finished goods produced. Responsible for implementation of programs to ensure food safety regulatory compliance.

We’d love to hear from people with: 

Progressive experience designing, developing and managing quality assurance programs in manufacturing or foodservice industries (10 years) Significant experience in food technology, food science and food safety (10 years) Qualification as a trained quality auditor (7 years) Significant experience in product safety risk assessment (7 years)

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above.  For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

 

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.  At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
