Senior Public Relations Manager - New England

We are looking to raise visibility for M&T Bank and our unique, relationship-based approach to banking across New England. This primarily includes leveraging earned media to highlight M&T's support of our customers, clients, and communities, while supporting the leaders and experts helping to drive our success.

 Overview:

Work to reinforce our reputation as a bank for communities—one that advocates for our customers and the other constituents who make up our ecosystem, to ensure the health and vitality of our communities and company – by managing media/PR/reputational opportunities and issues across major regions and/or business lines of the bank. Tell stories of our community support through, externalize how we make a difference to customers and communities, showcase quarterly earnings, build the public profiles for our leadership team, monitor and optimize our media exposure, demonstrate profit focus through campaign KPIs and budget governance. Ensure stakeholders within communities are aware of M&T Bank’s policies, philosophies, products, programs and accomplishments.

 

Primary Responsibilities:Nurture relationships with media contacts within the region or assigned business(es).Execute multiple high-profile public relations campaigns and communications projects simultaneously in coordination with bank executive and regional management as a member of the M&T's Corporate Communications team.Work with others inside and outside the Corporate Communications Department--including Marketing and Government Affairs--to develop, coordinate and implement public relations & communications strategies for elevating the profiles of executives, sharing thought leadership, promoting bank-related products/services, celebrating key local hires, creating awareness of issues, activities, decisions, policies, etc. within the region.Develop appropriate messages, strategies and tactics for various target audiences, including national and financial media, trade media, customers and prospects, influencers and other opinion leaders.Proactively seek out and identify media opportunities that enhance our reputation and amplify the stories we have to tell.Identify situations that could adversely impact the bank’s reputation and coordinate strategies and tactics to promote and protect M&T Bank.Counsel management on communications strategies and tactics when issues, policies or decisions threaten to impact the reputation of M&T. Develop appropriate media responses and communications materials.Cultivate strong working relationships with stakeholders within the bank (including executives), industry, community and media.Monitor, measure and report on all media coverage of the bank. Evaluate the success of earned media placements in building corporate reputation and mitigating crises, and utilize learnings from outcomes to inform future strategic outreach.Manage multiple proactive and reactive  media/PR/reputational issues and opportunities across major regions of the bank.Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's Degree

7 years relevant experience, with minimum 4 years in strategic PR role

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $116,709.52 - $194,515.87 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
