Senior Program Manager - System Software

Job Description Summary:

The Senior Program Manager is responsible for program capture, development, planning and execution. The Program Manager develops new programs with Draper programs customers, including NASA and commercial industry to partner in the development of new systems and technologies. Manages and ensures the timely completion of specific, defined multi discipline defense programs or projects of greater than average complexity and scope. 

Developing, implementing, and executing a strategy for the Software program area within Strategic Systems focused on the design and development of the D5LE2 guidance system.
Establishing D5LE2 program wide software development processes, policies, and procedures
Leading the development of multiples levels of software items including boot, operating system, flight software applications, and system test applications
Working closely with the Guidance Avionics and System Integration teams in the integration of the flight software into the flight avionics
Interfacing directly with US Navy customer, external program stakeholders, and internal stakeholders to support program alignment and execution.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities
• Responsible for managing complex programs that may involve managing fixed price contract with high dollar volume or contract length.
• Oversees program budget and schedules.
• Responsible for program growth
• Responsible for marketing new technology or follow• on business acquisition.
• May be responsible for business development within current customer base and/or for new customers.
• Responsible for program execution including interfacing with customers
• Coordinating successful execution of programs with internal stakeholders.
• Ensures contractual deliverables are completed on schedule and within the approved budget.  
• Support Program Directors, Business Area Leads, and Senior Program Managers in the development of internal products and provide recommendations for research and development.       
• Develop technical program management best practices and provide training/mentoring to project teams
• Monitors dependencies across multiple inter• related technical projects to adhere to methodologies, budgets, and timing
• Gather and report consolidated technical project status and financial information to leadership
• Recommends changes to improve processes and alleviate process inaccuracy and duplication.

Skills/Abilities
• Program and project management skills.

• Knowledge and proven track record of successful business interaction.
• Ability to be persuasive and a strong relationship builder.
• Possess excellent communications, presentation and networking skills. 
• Ability to travel on an as needed basis.  
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications: Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Education
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business or equivalent discipline required.

Experience
• 5-7 years program related experience in functional or program management.
• Experience in program related area with functional or program management. Aerospace systems and program experience is preferred.  

Additional Job Description:

Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

The Strategic Systems Program office is seeking a Senior Software Program Manager.  This program develops, tests, and delivers the world’s most accurate and reliable guidance, navigation & control (GN&C) systems to enable credible, survivable, and resilient port-to-target solutions to support the US Navy.  The program manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of the program plans, schedules, and budget for the Strategic Systems Software area, as well as monitoring program performance and execution to those plans, including identifying and addressing risks and issues as needed.   The Software Program Manager will report to the Associate Director of Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT).
