Senior Program Buyer - Trailer Products

About the Team: The Senior Program Buyer will be responsible for new product’s BOM costing and sourcing, identifying, and executing cost reduction projects, ensuring capacity in the supply-chain and working as the first commercial escalation level for the operations team. We are looking for a new colleague to join our Program Purchasing Team at our plant in Gray Court, South Carolina, responsible for Trailer products.

 

What you can look forward to as a Senior Program Buyer: 

Work with the corporate commodity team to source the direct materials. Lead the resourcing and technical changes execution to delivery yearly targets. Manage the whole purchasing process for new products or localization of existing products through supplier search and Bill of Material cost management; support the commodity organization in their request for quotations, commercial negotiations, contractual agreements including RFQ preparation, demand forecasting, prototype orders, and purchase orders and/or scheduling agreements. Monitor the performance of the suppliers during program launch and through product life cycle. Continuously review cost performance to target; nominate parts for Global Competitive Sourcing.  Analyze the supply base to prepare and recommend suppliers to be added/removed from the approved supplier list as well as nominate suppliers for the Strategic Supplier List. Perform market research and monitor changes/trends for purposes of benchmarking and cost controlling.  Track costs through life cycle of product, while maintaining detailed cost tracking with suppliers.

 

Your Profile as a Senior Program Buyer: 

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, or related field. 6+ years of relevant experience in a professional purchasing capacity (i.e., technical/commodity purchasing, purchasing project management, procurement, etc.). Experience with supplier analysis and evaluation (i.e., quality, capacity, cost, etc.). Experience with supplier bidding process, negotiation, and cost estimate. Experience with APQP and/or project management tools and methods. Deep knowledge of purchasing tools, negotiation methods, and business communications. Deep Knowledge of cost improvement/containment topics and techniques. Experience with SAP and Excel (i.e., Pivot Tables, Formulas, Filters, etc.).

*Ability/willingness to travel domestically.
