Position Summary:
As an Illumina Senior Product Engineer, you will be responsible for the field health of Illumina’s consumables. From vendors to customers, from development to high volume production, you will be responsible for working across the organization to improve consumable field performance to ensure customers are getting the best products on the market.
Responsibilities:
Work with Process Engineering, Quality, Suppliers and Customer Support to lead investigations and troubleshoot production line issues related to consumable performanceProvide technical expertise and leadership to resolve issuesAnalyze production and QC data, and test results, issues reports, and lends technical guidanceProvide analytical data support and product expertise for development teamsWork with Quality and product groups to resolve quality and reliability problems with customersIn conjunction with R&D, conduct controlled new product optimization tests (including DOEs) and experiments for release into production environmentDrive product performance improvements with field performance monitoring and continuous improvement, investigation, leadership, and technical mentoringAssist in defining technical requirements for new productsProvide feedback of information to process owners and lead teams to resolve quality issuesRecommend and implement new QC techniques where neededConduct risk assessments for design changes to on market productsCollaborate with development teams and subject matter experts to find root cause for on market investigationsRequired Background:
Strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, with experience in bioinformaticsHands-on experience with DNA and RNA library prep methods for NGS (next generation sequencing)Some experience with NGS, preferably with Illumina sequencing platformsSolid data analysis skills and a logical approach to problem solvingHigh level computer data analysis and statistical knowledgeDemonstrated experience working with databases and wrangling/querying disparate dataExperience working with scripting languages such as R or Python is preferredGood interdepartmental communication skills and documentation skillsSuccessful project management experienceExperience in manufacturing support/sustaining and transferring products from R&D to production preferredExperience with Statistical Process Control and DOE techniquesExperience with high volume manufacturing in a high-tech, high-volume consumables industryExperience with product development processes and project managementEducation:
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD in an applicable field of study; or equivalent experience.The estimated base salary range for the Senior Product Engineer role based in the United States of America is: $96,500 - $144,700. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
