Key purpose of your job:
To manage post production with the focus on budget control, overall profitability and growth, ensuring that expectations are managed and delivered on, whilst simultaneously building lasting client relationships and motivating and developing a team.
Primary responsibilities:
Manage the day to day running of the broadcast studio and control the effective use of resources. Make sure all assigned projects are produced to high quality standards, are delivered on time within the agreed budget and that all contractual obligations are met. Draw up all relevant documentation, such as time lines, budgets, schedules, lists, templates and briefs. Manage Project Finance: quotes, estimates, track budgets, monitor costs and profitability, financial reporting, POs, reconciliations etc. Follow correct approval protocols and keep abreast of changes to internal accounting processes/procedures; adapt approach accordingly. Scope each job thoroughly and accurately and internalise correctly: clarify exact requirements upfront during pre-production and clearly define the brief to ensure accurate budgeting. Review briefs: obtain clarity from relevant parties where necessary and ensure that all supporting documentation and assets required are supplied and in the requisite format. Make sure that all supplied assets are checked against the relevant QC standards before work commences on a project. Verify and confirm that all final materials pass the relevant QC standard for that media type before system upload takes place. Prepare effective project schedules that clearly communicates what work needs to be done and by whom and the time in which it needs to be performed. Interrogate and analyse historical timesheets to refine ability to estimate time correctly and to identify repeat bottlenecks in processes, be it internally or externally. Manage and monitor timelines and deadlines: where possible ensure that team stays ahead of schedule and allow for sufficient time to accommodate unforeseen changes/obstacles. Schedule reviews and WIP meetings and inform all stakeholders timeously of any changes to schedules and impacts on deadlines. Troubleshooting: apply a logical and systematic approach to root-cause analysis to find the most suitable solution in the fastest time possible. Maintain acceptable and professional business communications protocols and standards. Keep communication channels open: stay informed regarding clients and internal resources and build strong, lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Foster mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers, provide input as to the internal processes that must be followed and communicate any changes thereto timeously etc. Mine existing client base and identify new business opportunities Hogarth may be able to assist with. Team management: work allocation, leave schedules, time and attendance, enforcement of processes and procedures, team development etc. Systems maintenance: identify, along with Production Engineer, where the systems need to be modified or adapted to accommodate changes in workflow requirements. Ensure all software updates are implemented and technological upgrades actioned. Gear management: make sure that the gear is cataloged, in good working order and all inventory is accounted for and stored safely. Submit requests for new acquisitions timeously for approval. Data control: ensure all materials needed to undertake any given job is recorded in the correct location i.e. Broadcast Server, FIDO etc, that the correct file naming conventions are followed, and all completed jobs are uploaded to FIDO. Maintain a central filing system and ensure that all files are uploaded on a regular basis and that there are no major backlogs. Keep abreast of all industry related developments and advancements: where necessary motivate for a business case if anything comes to light that should be added to the Hogarth business offering to remain competitive and/or stay ahead of the competition. Continually define new ways to increase client satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
