Additional Information:This is a hybrid position which we consider to be a combination of remote and on site work at our Boston, MA based campus. HBS expects all staff to be onsite 2 days per week and departments provide onsite coverage Monday - Friday. Please note that for the first 90 days of employment, you will be expected to be onsite 5 days/week. Specific hours and days onsite will be determined by business needs and are subject to change with appropriate advanced notice.

Position Description:Reporting to the Managing Director, Custom Programs, the Senior Portfolio Director (Sr. PD) is responsible for a team of Portfolio Directors (PDs) who each manage their own assigned clients. The Sr. PD also maintains direct oversight of a group of programs within the portfolio.
+ Ensure that they and their team members are effective in directing Executive Education (ExEd) programming, including business development, proposal development and negotiation, program design, development and analysis.
+ Partner with faculty, clients, program teams, and related partners for planning, delivery, and evaluation.
+ Strategically drive renewal and expansion revenue across their portfolio. Custom Programs may require program development and delivery activities to be conducted on campus and globally.
+ Partner with fellow members of Custom’s senior leadership team to manage the Custom and Affinity portfolio, identifying and leveraging best-practices.
+ In collaboration with Custom MD, determine equitable distribution of team workload and program coverage.
+ Take a strategic and data-driven view of programs, working with Managing Director and ExEd leadership to shape a portfolio that maximizes faculty development, educational impact for participants/sponsoring organizations, and financial contribution, and does so in a sustainable manner.
+ Responsible for effective staff management, including hiring and orientation, training and development, workflow and performance management, and the promotion of an inclusive and innovative work environment.
+ Support development of long-term, multifaceted relationships between custom clients and HBS/Harvard University (e.g., spanning ExEd, HBS Online, Harvard Business Publishing).
+ Collaborate with the Business Development team in developing new business opportunities, including proposal and client development activities.
+ Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure coordination of business development calls. Participate in presentations/negotiations with senior executives regarding corporate educational needs ranging from Custom to Open Enrollment to blended offerings.
+ Enhance/support relationships between faculty, researchers, and clients involved in the creation of intellectual capital of HBS.
+ Some evenings and weekends are required.
+ Responsible for other duties as assigned.
