Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Planner to join our team! In this role you will get to leads and coordinates complex planning activities, ensuring projects are executed efficiently, on schedule, and in compliance with regulations, while providing guidance to junior staff and managing stakeholder relationships.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Senior Planner leads and coordinates planning efforts for projects or programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. This role involves managing complex planning activities, developing strategies, preparing reports, and providing technical direction to junior planners. The Senior Planner ensures projects are executed on time, within budget, and in compliance with applicable policies and regulations.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops and implements comprehensive plans for projects, programs, or initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.

Leads the planning process, from project scoping and scheduling to risk management and resource allocation.

Conducts detailed analysis and prepares reports, feasibility studies, and technical documents for senior management and stakeholders.

Coordinates with internal teams, clients, regulatory agencies, and external consultants to gather information and ensure all aspects of the planning process are addressed.

Provides technical guidance and mentorship to junior planners and staff, reviewing work products for accuracy and quality.

Oversees the development and maintenance of project schedules, budgets, and progress tracking systems.

Identifies potential risks and develops mitigation strategies to ensure projects stay on track.

Ensures compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and best practices in the planning process.

Participates in meetings with stakeholders, presenting planning solutions and addressing concerns.

Performs other duties as necessary to support the successful execution of planning initiatives.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field

Typically 7+ years of experience in planning, with a focus on project or program management

Master’s degree or planning certification (e.g., AICP) may be preferred

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

Strong knowledge of planning methodologies, project management principles, and relevant regulations

Proficiency in planning software (e.g., GIS, project management tools) and MS Office Suite

Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills

Experience in coordinating complex projects and managing teams

Ability to solve complex problems and make data-driven decisions
