Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Mountain Region is currently seeking a Senior Permitting Specialist to support our third-party work in support of the United States Forest Service, Payette National Forest, in Idaho (USFS). Job responsibilities include document review, management and the assessment and support for the Stibnite Gold Project (SGP) formerly known as Midas Gold. This position will be part of Stantec’s Environmental Services team that provides the full range of expertise needed to address environmental permitting and approval requirements. Our staff members have established excellent working relationships with regulators at the USFS, and our regulatory knowledge, environmental assessment experience, and scientific expertise allow us to help our clients develop the most effective approach to securing regulatory approvals and meet permitting requirements.

Your Key Responsibilities
Work directly with the USFS in a third-party role as requested by the USFS. 
Provide technical, environmental, and regulatory support specifically for the SGP as directed by the USFS Project Manager.
Submit accurate and timesheets on a weekly basis
Communicate with the assigned supervisor bi-weekly or as needed
Support and ensure implementation of Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines in the execution of all work and coordinate with HSSE professionals during the execution of all phases of project planning and implementation Your Capabilities and Credentials
Familiarity with the permitting requirements of the SGP
Minimum 10 years experience working with the USFS
Ability to work with professionalism and confidentiality
Ability to multi-task and adapt to change in a very dynamic environment
Demonstrated effective writing and communication skills
Demonstrated team player with the ability to work independently and take initiative
Experience working with a diverse set of project types including investor-owned utility, power, environmental infrastructure, mining, oil and gas, water, and community development land uses is an asset.
Experience with various NEPA requirements  (BLM, NPS, and/or USFS NEPA process and requirements preferred)
Valid driver's license and good driving record required.

Education and Experience

Minimum of 10 years of experience in USFS planning and permitting at all stages of projects from exploration or pre-feasibility through to closure
