We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Payroll Manager with extensive experience in managing payroll for a large organization. This role requires expertise in various payroll processes, system implementation, and people management in a fast-paced environment.
About the role
Leading, overseeing and managing the delivery of a complete end-to-end fortnightly payroll process including month end and annual payroll related activities through the support from a Payroll team. Ensuring accuracy, eligibility, and timeliness of all payroll payments in terms of awards, EA, across multiple agreements. Managing New Hire and Termination portfolio, including information receipt, interpretation, calculation, records management, and integrity checking. Effectively and proactively, participate and contribute to projects within HR and across divisionally. Managing the General Ledger Payroll interface process each fortnight, ensuring all journals are accurately and timely prepared, managing HR-related balance sheet accounts, collaborating with Finance to ensure all accounts are reconciled monthly, and managing the accuracy of the annual leave and long service leave provisions.Please note this is a 12-month fixed term opportunity.
About you
Proven experience leading payroll operations in a large, complex organizational structure with 5000+ employees, including strong knowledge of payroll systems, tax, superannuation, and Long Service Leave (LSL) requirements across awards and states. In-depth understanding and hands-on experience with New Zealand payroll processes. Experience in implementing new payroll systems and handling business transfers efficiently and accurately. High-level proficiency in Excel, including reporting, reconciliation, and analysis for complex payroll functions. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with proven experience in managing teams, coordinating across multiple internal stakeholders, and effectively managing client expectations. Ability to manage competing demands and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated technical proficiency with payroll software and tools.
