WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior OCS Engineer to work out of our **Portland, OR** location **.**
Your Impact
+ Ensure that company technical policies and procedures are practiced during the execution of projects;
+ Develop design approaches and concepts for projects including Power Distribution Design for Light Rail, Heavy Rail, Commuter Rail, and High Speed Rail, utilizing overhead contact or third rail systems;
+ Prepare overhead contact system studies for AC and DC electrified railway systems;
+ Develop and review designs and technical specifications, meeting quality standards;
+ Develop construction cost estimates;
+ Develop design/engineering cost estimates;
+ Assist project managers in the coordination of project designs with other disciplines including attendance at project meetings;
+ Review shop drawings, record changes, and communicate directly with suppliers, contractors, and client representatives as required;
+ Perform field inspections as needed.
+ Train and develop support staff:
+ Participate in WSP’s quality process for all deliverables.
+ Lead technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentations, and meetings.
+ Meet with various public or private entities or individuals to discuss issues relating to a variety of engineering/construction challenges and programs.
+ Manage and provide performance guidance and leadership to assigned staff.
+ Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide “trusted advisor” service and future ready solutions for clients.
+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.
+ 5 to 7 years of relevant post education experience in engineering and prior transit and rail experience.
+ Engineer in Training Certification.
+ Support and participate in the Systems implementation phase of projects, such as installation, Testing & Commissioning, Cutover, Record Drawings and final reports.
+ Support procurement efforts by authoring technical requirements and specifications, performing vendor bid evaluations and supporting vendor selection.
+ Commissioning of Traction Power Distribution Systems and Equipment, including experience with engineering design on at least three transit or commuter/intercity rail projects;
+ Good written and verbal communications skills and understanding of the English language;
+ Experience in a MicroStation and AutoCAD design environment for the development of Overhead Contact System design drawings;
+ Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications;
+ Immediate availability to work in the US.
+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
+ Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.
+ Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Master’s Degree in Engineering.
+ Essential Professional Licensure/Certification.
+ Ability to perform site investigations in medium voltage (MV) substations and along electrified railroad.
