Senior Nurse Practitioner OR Staff Level Nurse Practitioner- Outpatient Cardiology

The position entails the comprehensive care of patients in the areas of cardiovascular prevention and women's heart disease. Care includes risk assessment, risk factor optimization, the use of advanced therapies and the basics of lifestyle change. We partner with other specialties to care for patients with advanced lipid disorders, cardiometabolic disease, genetic disorders. In the care of women, we focus on maternal health, risk surrounding menopause and women with unique cardiac syndromes. The role of the NP is to see patients in collaboration with the prevention attending and independently to aid in the optimization of medical therapy, lifestyle counseling and risk factor optimization. The NP will also assist with clinical trials in preventive cardiology, community outreach and education of other disciplines.

Job Responsibilities:

Takes initial patient histories and performs physical examinations. Initiates, documents, and communicates the plan of care and follows up to ensure complete screening and preparation of patients. Performs daily patient rounds. Writes orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests. Interprets laboratory and test results. Confers with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and/or other care providers to ensure optimum quality of patient care. Upon discharge, notes discharge summaries, prescriptions, and any referrals on patient charts. Informs patients of the necessary post-discharge care instructions. Performs related duties as required. Additional Job Responsibilities: 

Performs the duties of an Advanced Clinical Provider, including the handling of the more complex, technical cases Guides and directs Advanced Clinical Providers, as well as other department staff. Performs administrative tasks including, but not limited to, scheduling employees, new employee orientation, quality assurance, cost containment, and payroll, etc. Engages in research activities and other special projects. Job Qualification

 

Master’s Degree in a Nurse Practitioner Program and National Board Certification in specialty area required. Current License to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State,
and Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required. Has a collaborative practice agreement with designated protocols filed with NYS Department of Education OR collaborative relationship attestation as per the Nurse Practitioner Modernization Act 2015.  3+ years of technical experience, required.
