The Core Networking team is looking for a Network Development Engineer to join our Network Fabric Engineering (NFE) team. As a Network Development Engineer, you will be responsible for building, deploying and scaling the Amazon networks that support AWS, customers, and other business units, across multiple global datacenters.
AWS Core Networking is focused on building Data Centers and the network that allows Data Centers to function efficiently. We own the solutions that allow racks to be aggregated and Data Centers to be interconnected. Core Networking's goal is to balance efficiency, performance and reliability to allow customers access to their applications and data.
If you like to work with new technologies and optimizing existing technology and have experience participating in network/systems support for a large-scale enterprise or service provider environment -we would like to meet you. Your work will play a key role in driving the stability and sustainability of next-generation IP networks.
Key job responsibilities
- Your core job responsibility is to create network designs, services, and deployment procedures that solve for many requirements.
- Together, you and your leadership team will decide on the projects that best support your team’s mission.
- You and your team, will design ahead of customer or technology needs, always predicting and solving for problems that have not yet occurred. This takes the form of creating and defending High Level Design (HLD) and Low Level Design (LLD) documents, working with internal stakeholders to influence technology roadmaps, constructing and testing your solutions, and providing support to the teams that will deploy and operate these designs.
- Create and automate deployment processes that increases quality and velocity.
- Work closely with our internal customers on designs/solutions; bringing those designs/solutions from concept to production.
- Lead network projects in the areas of network sustaining engineering, network deployment/implementation, network scaling, technology refresh, best practices application, and/or network optimization.
- Sustain Amazon Web Services’ next generation networks for significant AWS customers by providing critical network support to diagnose, mitigate impact, and resolve large-scale networking events.
- Actively participate and lead the technology and product roadmap discussions with related stakeholders, outlining the long-term strategy/plan, facilitating discussions with customers to intercept their challenges/requirements, calling out investment needs for product evolution and creating plans for execution.
