Service Team Leader

Your role and responsibilities

Under the direction of MV Drives Service Manager, Field Service provides technical onsite and offsite support and expertise in response to a variety of site work requests, telephone calls and emails regarding installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and programming questions and to technical problems encountered by users of ABB Medium Volt-age drives and systems. This in turn results in different actions on the part of the individual depending on the specific circumstances of each case. Execution is performed in a timely manner.The work model for the role is: remote #LI-RemoteThis role is contributing to the Motion division in the United States. You will be mainly accountable for:• Perform installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and repair of ABB Medium Voltage (MV) Variable Frequency Drives (VFD). • Investigate problems and independently initiate effective measures for their solution. • Coordinate activities with related groups to most efficiently achieve objectives to ensure customer satisfaction. • Participate proactively in contributing feedback regarding product quality issues to reduce warranty costs. • Carry out preparatory work regarding spare parts, testing of tools and equipment, and documentation as required. • Submit completed, detailed, and comprehensive service reports in a timely manner and follows up when needed.• Coaches and provides technical guidance to fellow colleagues, departments, and customers.• Communicate effectively and present information to top management, customers, vendors, and other employees of the organization.

Qualifications for the role

Associate degree and 7 years of relevant experience OR High School Diploma/GED and 9 years of relevant experience OR a combination of 9 years of education/experience in the military required. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical field and 5 years of relevant experience preferred but not required. Previous experience in installing, testing, repairing or troubleshooting AC/DC drive systems and their associated controls. Ability to interpret circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, technical manuals, and technical specifications. Ability to travel up to 80% of the time. Maintain a valid driver’s license. Willing to provide technical support during evenings and weekends on a rotating schedule. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and in outside weather conditions; performs work related travel; and is occasionally exposed to extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, occasionally loud. The employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, and sit; use hands to manipulate and control tools, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls; reach above shoulders; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; and taste or smell. Candidate must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the United States.
