Senior Mobile Engineer, Android

As a Senior Mobile Engineer in Android , your contributions will help shape the booking/checkout experience across the Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo Android applications. You'll also participate in future architecture discussions, influencing the path of our mobile development initiatives. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to assist in establishing a lively Android engineering community in Gurgaon, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing.


Our team is diverse that combines the talents of Android, iOS, Web (React), Backend (Kotlin) and Full-stack engineers. Our team is primarily based in Gurgaon, but the checkout experience team also has members in NORAM and EMEA. We collaborate with design and product teams in NORAM, EMEA and India. In this role, you will:

Develop and maintain high-quality Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack ComposeWork closely with the cross-functional teams to design and implement user-centric solutions and interfacesEnsure that the applications are optimized for performance, responsiveness, and exceptional user experienceWrite unit, screenshot, and UI automation tests to ensure the reliability and robustness of the applicationParticipate in code and design reviewsStay updated with the latest industry trends, advancements in mobile development, and best practices to ensure that our applications are always a step aheadProvide guidance, mentorship, and expertise to junior developers and contribute to the team's overall growth and knowledge-sharing


Experience and qualifications:

8+ years of Software Development work experience (Android / Kotlin experience essential, ability to understand and maintain code for GraphQL/Kotlin/ GRPC would be a bonus)Establishes mobile product thinking and provides technical leadership and mentoring within the teamProven experience working in multi-quarter projects as a part of a decentralized team and projectDriving technical design end to endUnderstands highly complex systems and designs moderately complex mobile systemsStrong communication skillsYou articulate your ideas to peers and leaders, providing detail and understanding of your approachKeep solid documentation, and you enjoy and take pride in the work of the teamAble to justify technology choices to technical and non-technical observers making well-defined technology choicesAble to identify and advocate for project quality via testing, monitoring, and alerting at the project levelEstablishing operational excellence metrics at a team level
