Job Description:

Our client, a leading consulting engineering firm with projects across Africa, is currently searching for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team in the Western Cape. The selected candidate will be responsible for mechanical engineering design in the field of petrochemical projects. Key focus of mechanical engineering calculations, designs, drawings, solutions to engineering problems, preparation of reports, client liaison, construction knowledge and commissioning.

Responsibilities / Skills:

Proficient piping and pumping system understanding

Capable of designing mechanical systems and knowledgeable in hydraulics

Skilled in preparing conceptual and detailed designs, including drawings, calculations, schedules, cost estimates, and datasheets

Familiar with tender processes for mechanical projects

Experienced in construction and installation of mechanical systems

Knowledgeable about mechanical engineering codes like ASME, API, and SANS

Able to travel for site inspections, meetings, and liaising with clients

Competent in commissioning mechanical systems, mentoring junior staff, and assisting in project and staff management

Requirements:

B.Sc. (Mechanical Engineering) or BEng

PrEng advantageous

8 – 10 years of experience in the Petrochemical Engineering field
