Senior Mechanical Engineer
*HYBRID* Mechanical Engineer/Designer Job Description We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to contribute to our industrial HVAC and utility system design projects on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Newark, DE, with flexibility to sit in Philadelphia as a last resort and some hybrid flexibility. Our projects are primarily industrial in nature, including pharmaceutical and chemical sectors. This role requires a technically focused mechanical engineer to assist with production while leading the design floor. Responsibilities + Contribute to the design of mechanical utility and HVAC systems, including sizing and selecting building mechanical equipment such as air handlers, chillers, pumps, fans, cooling towers, compressors, dryers, boilers, VRF and DX split systems, and terminal devices. + Perform various engineering calculations, including HVAC load and ventilation air calculations, psychometrics, pipe flow/pressure drop, ductwork sizing, ductwork static pressure, and hydraulic analysis for piping sizing and layout. + Utilize building load calculation software, such as Trane Trace. + Develop building energy models when necessary. + Apply knowledge of relevant MEP industry codes and standards, such as ASHRAE, ICC Codes, NFPA, and SMACNA. + Develop and write equipment and project specifications. + Interact with internal team members and external stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and contractors. + Provide subject matter expertise and technical guidance to other engineers and designers in the MEP group. Essential Skills + Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering + 8+ years of professional experience + Professional Engineer (PE) license highly preferred + Proficiency with engineering tools such as AutoCAD; knowledge of Microstation and Revit is a plus Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with HVAC systems, air handlers, chillers, pumps, fans, cooling towers, compressors, dryers, boilers, load calculations, flow analysis, ductwork sizing, and BIM + Knowledge of mechanical design, HVAC system design, and mechanical systems sizing + Experience with piping and building energy models Work Environment + Our work environment features an open floor space with areas of four desks with dividers, fostering a collaborative atmosphere where everyone is willing to help and teach as needed. + The MEP division consists of approximately 30 people, including 8-10 engineers and the rest being designers. + The office hours are flexible, as long as employees complete their 8 hours between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., with a preference for presence during prime hours. The dress code is business casual.
