As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer in R&D, you will help us grow the capability of our product development team in Loveland, Colorado. Initially, you will be working with a small team designing and testing analytical instruments for biologic drug development with opportunity to design and develop products across our broad Life Sciences platform in the future. The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the development and maintenance of projects from product conception, definition, design, through documentation, release to production, and sustainment. This position reports to a Mechanical Engineering Manager, is part of R&D Mechanical Engineering team located in Loveland Colorado and will be an on-site role. In this role, you will be responsible for: + Working collaboratively across electrical, optical, fluidic, and process engineering fields to design and sustain life sciences instruments and technology. + Designs and test systems to achieve product performance specifications. + Develops component and system tests to validate performance of mechanical components which demonstrate manufacturability and environmental stress. + Maintains existing products as required to meet safety, reliability, and customer expectations. + Organizes and actively participates in design reviews and project reviews. The essential requirements of the job include: + BS in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5+ years OR a Master’s degree with 3+ years or an equivalent combination of education and experience to perform at this level. + Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including tolerance analysis. + Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams. + Strong CAD skills, GD&T, automated testing and documentation. + Experience with CAD modeling of machined, sheet metal, and injection molded parts with emphasis on manufacturability. It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: + Familiar with ISO quality systems related to design control and product release requirements and audits. + Familiarity with SolidWorks. + Mechanical systems design and test experience in machine automation, robotics, liquid handling or laboratory instrumentation. + Knowledge of ASME dimensioning and tolerance standards. + Mechanical design, modeling, performance analysis, and tradeoff analysis. + Materials and component selection for reliability and chemical compatibility. + Any experience with hands-on machining and bench fabrication a plus. + Rapid 3D prototyping experience is a plus. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
