Job Summary
This is an engineering position within Manufacturing Engineering function to implement Tem Centre Quality (TCQ) starting from pre-study. Perform pre-study to understand the capability and maturity of TCQ. Based on the pre-study suggest possible ways for ME preparations and analysis. Analyse the PFMEA and the inspection planning solution part of TCQ. Understand how the digital thread from MBD/Drawing, DFMEA flows down to the PFMEA and how the PFMEA is the solution. Also study on how the inspection planning is best presented in Opcenter. Study on how the inspection results can be feedback into TC for further analysis. Finally understand how production non-conformances can be handled in TCQ. Should be representing GKN Bangalore in global method development team (Team Centre, Inspection, Process FMEA and Process Control). Provide Manufacturing Engineering capability to operational and development Programs to enable and deliver Zero Defect projects utilizing engineering and problem solving skills. Accountable for delivering robust, capable manufacturing process technology as it applies to materials, tooling, part fabrication and assembly.
Job Responsibilities
General Exemplifying a safety-first mind-set and ensuring compliance with the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards. Responsible for the development of technical solutions to complex problems within GKN Aerospace, our customers and suppliers. Deliver technical support of manufacturing process development and integration for production. Utilize root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances. Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives.
Support in developing competencies such as Process FMEA, Process Control (PC) and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) by training/coaching/mentoring engineers. Capture engineering/manufacturing requirements using Manufacturing drawings, MBD’s and develop Process Flow Diagrams, Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, Control plan etc. compliant with AS9145 and AS13100. Develop PFMEA’s and perform Process Control, MSA studies and guide the team. Promote standardized way of working across sites by documenting and propagating best methods and practices. All tasks undertaken will be addressed in line with defined ME procedures, to achieve challenging targets. Develop and sustain process planning support competence from India. Focus on upskilling individuals and plan training needs. Support management in recruitment and resource utilization. Responsible for the implementation of materials & process methods and solutions, from original concept through to production. Deploy these processes with a high degree of process capability utilizing the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite to demonstrate as such. Responsible for technical support of manufacturing development and integration for production. Resolve issues pertaining to vendor quality. Provide specialist knowledge to production activities with the ultimate goal of improving efficiency, product quality and the reduction of non-conforming parts. A good team player in a team of 10-15 people. Expected to perform his/her duties with minimum supervision with strict adherence to the timelines.
Job Qualifications
+ Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering or equivalent
+ Must have 10-15 years manufacturing experience in a production environment particular experience in composite and metallic manufacturing preferably aerospace industry.
+ Must have 2-3 years of hands on experience in the shop with manufacturing/ machining/ assembly.
+ Good coaching/mentoring skills along with proficiency in Aerospace standards such as AS9145/AS13100 & associated APQP standards.
+ Machining experience with super alloys, Aircraft grade aluminium will be added advantage.
+ Very good experience of quality planning, PFMEA, inspection planning and analysis
+ Good understanding of Teamcenter and related solutions.
+ Understanding of product digital thread concept
+ Understand non-conformance handling
+ Approximately five years of experience in the quality and system solution area.
