Stanley Black & Decker is part way through a multi-year transformation of its global supply chain and is deploying an enterprise-wide Continuous Improvement (CI) approach across its Tools & Outdoor (T&O) manufacturing sites.  The CI approach has two primary responsibilities: (1) Building capabilities in world-class CI; and (2) Deliver improvements across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, and ensuring YoY productivity ($) savings are delivered by each site.

To support this initiative, Stanley Black & Decker is building a world-class Central CI team that will work closely with the T&O Mfg. leaders and their teams to deliver these objectives.

The Job:

The Central CI Senior Manager will be responsible for managing site specific CI implementation activities to ensure their assigned sites within Asia North and Asia South regions have productivity plans (Kaizen Schedules) that contain sufficient operational improvement projects to attain/exceed YoY site-level productivity targets. They will also lead and develop a team of Central CI Engineers within Asia regions.

This role is fundamentally a key agent for change within Stanley Black & Decker, focused on building world-class CI capabilities, supporting the identification of productivity opportunities, and supporting specific Kaizen activities to ensure flawless execution and provide additional coaching/support.

You’ll get to:

Set-up and facilitate CI technical training for site-based CI resources and Central CI Engineers (i.e., Flow, Line Balancing, PFEP, Standard Work, 5S, Visual-Management, OEE, SMED, Poka-Yoke, PDCA, TPM, etc.)Review and confirm completeness of site-level productivity plans (Kaizen schedules)Set-up and facilitate ‘productivity ideation workshops’ for assigned sites to support with the closure of any gaps to their productivity target by filling their productivity pipeline with new ideasSupport site specific implementation activities (i.e., Kaizen events)Provide training/guidance/support on operational + financial baselining and improvement quantificationParticipate in regional CI forums to provide input on performance, best practice sharing, and on-going capability buildingPartner with regional Plant Managers to deliver on-going productivity improvements through CIPartner with other Operational Excellence (OpX) functions (e.g., Operational Excellence Technology, Stanley Performance Excellence) to drive improvements in CI and sustainabilityReport out in bi-weekly Central CI team performance meetings with the Central CI team leadershipUpdate the Central CI Director on a weekly basis on the status of CI activities within their assigned Asia sites, including productivity ($) improvement, risks and countermeasures, and progress of capability building for the regional Central CI Engineers and site-based CI resourcesAttend site-based productivity governance meetings to support the Asia Plant Managers in providing updates on productivity performance within their assigned Asia sitesSupport codification of any updates (enhancements) to the existing CI playbook

The Person:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, with 7-10 years of manufacturing experienceManufacturing experience to include line responsibility and experience with the main manufacturing functions: production, maintenance, quality, production engineering, internal logistics, and launch (NPI)Led a team that has delivered improvement in operational performancePrior operational consulting experience preferredUnderstanding of Lean / CI methodologies with implementation experience in operationsLean Six Sigma or other process improvement certificationProject Management Professional (PMP), Agile, or other project management certification preferredProficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, TeamsFluent in English (verbal and written)Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with interpersonal skillsAbility to travel up to 50% of the time, global and domestic, travel % may vary based on business needs
