Senior Manager - Data Governance

The Data Governance Operations Sr. Manager will be pivotal in shaping the future of Data Governance (DG) within our organization by coordinating all activities from initiation/planning to implementation and sustainment. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in project management, experience in the administration of metadata management tools and a proven track record for cross-functional collaboration.

Working closely with the Data Governance Lead and Enterprise Data Intelligence Manager, the role will execute day-to-day activities and ensure progress against data governance goals and objectives. Strong project management, change management, communication, and data governance skills are essential. The ideal candidate will draw upon past experiences to help guide and execute the completion of key data governance and BI initiatives.

Data Governance

Provide project status materials and communicate to the Enterprise Data Intelligence Manager, working teams, and stakeholdersPrepare data governance presentation materials, as needed to support alignment, communication of program updates, and steering committee meetingsHelp define and document data governance / data stewardship processes including business rule updates, data defect reporting, and data intelligence alerting processIdentify opportunities for process improvement and optimization within the data governance platforms and related business processesOversee daily operations of the team to ensure alignment with strategic objectives

Project/Change Management

Manage detailed project plans, and timelines; contributes to all phases of data governance initiatives including planning, execution, monitoring, and closing Collaborate with key stakeholders, including IT, Product, business units, and external vendors, to ensure alignment and successful delivery of project objectivesAssist in the identification of potential Data Governance risks and issues and develop mitigation strategies.Support development and documentation of processes to ensure stable and gap-free program implementations and ongoing stabilityDevelop clear targeted change and communication management plans for all identified teams and business unitsDesign, develop, and facilitate training programs for end-usersProactively manage changes in project scope and schedules

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related fieldExperience:Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, with a focus on change management and IT implementationsExperience in Change Management initiatives that require training a population of cross-functional stakeholders of varying skills and experienceExperience managing the components of a metadata management platformUnderstanding the data lifecycle and relevant tools sets is a plusSkills: Strong understanding of information systems, data ecosystems, and change managementStrong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasksKnowledge of Agile and Waterfall project management methodologiesAbility to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlinesExcellent leadership, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skillsProficiency in Metadata Management platformsCapable of pivoting between “lead” and “do” to make progress on activities
