What You’ll Be Doing
As a member of the Finance Controllership team, the Senior Manager is responsible for Canadian and US accounting activities and manages the relationship with key partners such as the Wealth Management Controller, Wealth Management CFO teams and Accounting Policy. The Senior Manager is accountable for the integrity of amounts reported in the financial reporting systems, hence, the Senior manager oversees month-end activities such as journal entries, financial analysis, reconciliation and other accounting related activities as required. In addition, there are financial reporting deliverables, team support, project initiatives and ad hoc requests from stakeholders.

How You’ll Succeed
Problem Solving – you persist to investigate and understand end to end processes from origination to report in order to identify gaps and recommend solutions that are optimal for the bank.
Manage monthly and quarterly close processes - including critical review of journal entries and financial results. Provide proactive communication of variances/issues such to minimize surprises during the GL close process. Ensure accounting is completed timely and accurately.
Collaborate - with business partners and cross functional teams to resolve problems and issues. Activity listen and be curious to understand the different perspective and needs of the participants.
Finance controls - are effective and performed on regular basis to identify/manage exposure to risks, escalating issues as appropriate.
Data analytics – contribute accounting transformation and analysis through use of modern data mining techniques and data analytics tool.
Continuous Improvement – mindset and sharing of ideas and opportunities, curious and constantly looking for ways to improve the processes you own or contribute to.
Passionate leader - lead, coach and motivate the team of onshore and offshore employees to consistently deliver a high impact environment that continues to raise expectations to ensure service level to business partners and CIBC clients are met.
