The Role

The Proofpoint Tax Department is responsible for the assessment and review of the Company’s transactions as it relates to all forms of tax compliance as well as accounting for income taxes under US GAAP. The ideal candidate typically possesses a combination of strong technical tax knowledge, leadership skills, significant experience in international taxation, and successfully managed complex tax projects.

Your day-to-day

Provide support in the preparation and completion of accurate and timely quarterly and year-end income tax provisions in accordance with US GAAP.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary financial data for tax provision calculations.Manage and oversee various international tax filings such as international income tax returns, VAT/GST filings, and SECR study.Provide support in overseeing the annual transfer pricing process, maintain intercompany agreements, and assist with foreign cash management.Provide support in overseeing our external financial audit/income tax provision as necessary.Provide support in overseeing our international subsidiaries from US and local tax perspective (local tax returns and local financial statement audits).Provide expert guidance on tax provision international tax matters and assist in decision-making processes.Provide support with mergers and acquisition work including tax due diligence and post-acquisition tax integrations/structuring.Ensure compliance with accounting principles and relevant tax regulations.Gain comprehensive understanding of Proofpoint products and monitor transactions to identify potential areas of tax risk or opportunity.Support special projects and initiatives (e.g. foreign R&D Studies, refund opportunities, foreign tax audits, foreign census, and others) as assigned​

What you bring to the team

 Bachelor’s degree in AccountingCPA and/or Masters in Tax is preferred10+ years of experience in income tax provision and international taxation in either public accounting and/or public/private company tax experience.In-depth knowledge of ASC 740, other relevant accounting standards, and international taxation including but not limited to VAT compliance, international income tax returns, Transfer Pricing, Pillar Two, CbCR, audits, R&D Studies, CFCs, DREs, FTCs, GILTI, BEAT, FDII, Subpart F Income, etc.Experience in mergers and acquisitions, tax due diligence and post-acquisition integration/structuring is a plus.Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Pay within these ranges varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate. The range provided may represent a candidate range and may not reflect the full range for an individual tenured employee. This role may be eligible for variable compensation and/or equity. Base Pay Ranges:

SF Bay Area, New York City Metro Area:

Base Pay Range: 182,175.00 - 267,190.00 USD

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Washington DC Metro, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Texas, Washington, Virginia, and Alaska:

Base Pay Range: 146,550.00 - 214,940.00 USD

All other cities and states excluding those listed above:

Base Pay Range: 132,975.00 - 195,030.00 USD
