Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, the Sr. Maintenance Manager works as part of the Corporate Team and will oversee and direct all activities related to the maintenance practices of each manufacturing site.  All site Maintenance and Engineering Managers are accountable to the Sr. Maintenance Manager.  A summary of the title’s accountabilities include:

To manage activities related to the maintenance of production and auxiliary equipment, facilities and installations for the whole north American division. Developing and monitoring the execution of preventive and predictive maintenance plans. Standardizing these plans to all similar equipment and creating standard execution practices among the different facilities. Systematizing the preventive plans to allow for automatic work order management and key performance indicator reports. To monitor maintenance execution and propose improvements. To support the plants in the adequate Overhaul planning, including spare parts acquisition and usage. Oversee the execution of maintenance and overhauls and to assess adherence to plan and procedures and prescribe corrective actions where necessary. Oversee the improvement and control of the corporate spare parts management program with the aim of reducing total costs whilst increasing reliability. Developing new suppliers for strategic, quality, productivity and cost reduction initiatives. Develop and execute improvement projects related to equipment and processes. Participate in new product development with engineering counterparts. To work as support for all facilities in their productivity improvement and waste reduction efforts. To work with maintenance supervisors, plant engineers, and the whole technical body of the plants to control and improve maintenance practices. To create reports to be used by the facilities containing maintenance key performance indicators holding the facilities accountable to the resulting actions.  

 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

To oversee activities related to equipment and facilities maintenance for the whole division. Establish execution plans and define priorities. Improving standardization levels across the division – methods, procedures, materials, reports and indicators. Offering technical orientation and troubleshooting support as issues arise. Observing maintenance methods and procedures and correcting where necessary based on standardized methods. Plan, Design, implement and monitor preventive and predictive maintenance programs through standardization. Forecast future requirements to support production demands. Researching best practices in our and other industries to guarantee the latest proven techniques are being used. Auditing maintenance formularies and reports, consulting technical manuals and literature to define effective working methods and procedures. Develop and drive timelines for the execution of maintenance plans through each individual plant maintenance team. Following up with plants and procurement to guarantee the availability of parts for maintenance and overhauls. Estimate and budget maintenance costs for the division. Control and issue reports / indicators on spare parts consumption costs, maintenance contract costs, and overall expenditure with maintaining the installed industrial park. Oversee the maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment and electrical & mechanical systems. Participate in modification / improvement projects related to industrial installation and equipment and analyzing its impact. Developing timelines and cost estimates as well as working with equipment manufacturers and third parties to implement improvement projects. Interact with other members of the different departments to develop strategies, resolve problems and implement solutions. Research best practices related to size conversion within ours and other divisions. Copy and develop methods and fixtures to improve time and quality of conversions. Develop training materials for the conversion crews to improve on time and efficacy of pos-conversion start up and ramp up. Work together with procurement in the acquisition of spare parts and consumables. Specifying materials, developing alternative suppliers, nationalizing strategic items and working with manufacturers to improve design. Issuing reports on equipment and materials failure and developing relationships with suppliers to see through claims and warranty issues. Managing the division spare parts inventory, analyzing minimum and maximum keeping quantities, reorder points and quantity, and geographical location of key items. To manage and organize a corporate technical archive, equipment manuals and maintenance procedures, technical drawings and modification records. To keep up with technological changes such as retrofitting machinery to meet today’s new laws and efficiency standards. Working on continuously improving safety, efficiency and waste reduction for all plants. Provide emergency response and guidance to requesting facilities. Equipment repair, damage control, troubleshooting and escalating issues to obtain support and personnel as needed. To comply with established company procedures and rules.
