Position Overview

The Senior Manager, Production will lead, train, assist, and support teams in labeling, reagent manufacturing, and dispensing, kitting, and packaging, as well as drive process improvements, lean manufacturing philosophy, validation, and transfer of new processes and systems into production. This position will lead the Production team in developing and documenting new procedures for each work-stream. The Senior Manager, Production will be responsible for equipping, staffing, and establishing systems for labeling, production, and dispensing including work-in-process and finished goods kitting and packaging assembly. This role will manage investigations and non-conformances associated with processes within their work-stream, as well as oversee cross-functional projects implementing best practices to ensure projects meet business objectives. 

Essential Duties

Include but are not limited to the following:

Manage the core production business, ensuring product availability and quality, working with other Production leadership and cross-functionally to meet build plan requirements.Support and monitor performance against key performance indicators, ensuring risks and opportunities for improvement are raised to leadership. Provide guidance to fellow team members, including leadership is on effective means to course correct performance. Collaborate with Manufacturing Sciences, Tech Transfer, and Validation teams in developing, transferring, scaling, and validating manufacturing processes, including formulation and dispensing, in accordance with company procedures, cGMPs, FDA, and quality guidelines.Drive clear communication and expectations regarding project and production deliverables to all levels of the organization. Support implementation of principles and standards designed to align cross-functional project management practices and philosophy.Provide visibility and supporting information to assist leadership in prioritization of projects based on changing functional needs, resource capacity constraints, risk exposure, and ensuring clarity in project interdependencies.Oversee people leaders, as well as individual contributors, by defining clear roles, responsibilities, and expectations for all levels within the given work-streams.Specify, procure, install, qualify, and assist in the validation of manufacturing equipment and processes.Provide requirements to Procurement, Metrology, and Engineering teams to ensure adequate inventory availability of raw materials, intermediates, consumables, and spare parts within a dynamic work environment.Coordinate, lead, mentor, and support process improvement projects within functional work-streams to drive cost savings, efficiencies, and productivity. Quantify savings through partnering with financial analysts.Drive teams through investigations and non-conformances associated with production processes documenting root cause using quality system tools (5 Whys, FMEA, fishbone diagrams etc.).Develop and oversee quality training for all employees within the production work-streams following best practices to drive first time right production and batch record documentation.Develop and oversee manufacturing and soft-skill training curriculum within the production work-streams to drive team member engagement and development.Mentor next level supervisors, managers, and leaders within functional work-streams to continue to grow talent within our organization.Supervise staff; including, but not limited to, organize and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.Communicate goals clearly to employees to ensure understanding and success in achieving them.Motivate and inspire employees to do their best work through coaching.Maintain morale and support employee engagement initiatives.Excellent leadership skills for a diverse team with specialized expertise.Take initiative to improve systems, processes, procedures to drive quality into daily production.Ability to execute and lead with a sense of urgency.Ability to effectively communicate to all levels within the company and thrive in a fast-paced, ever changing environment.Ability to comprehend procedures, processes, and experimental designs to provide guidance and support to teams.Strong documentation skills and attention-to-detail necessary in a cGMP and FDA regulated environment.Excellent analytical skills, manufacturing knowledge, and lean principles.Ability to course correct when issues arise with strong tactical and clear execution plans.Ability to work effectively cross-functionally in project team situations, influence, and collaborate with stakeholders, as well as work independently leading teams forward with a clear vision.Ability to make decisions based on data and lead teams through ambiguous situations.Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.Regular and reliable attendance.Ability to work seated for approximately 80% of a typical working day. Ability to work standing for approximately 20% of a typical working day.Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 80% of a typical working day.Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height.Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.Ability to utilize lab equipment and moving machinery for extended periods of time (includes pipetting, traying robots etc.).Ability to work at a laboratory bench or fume hood for extended periods of time.Ability to perform fine manipulation and simple grasping using hands for extended periods of time.Ability and means to travel between Madison locations.Ability to travel 5% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related field; or High School Degree/General Education Diploma and 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.12+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.5+ years of experience leading a diverse team in a manufacturing environment.Professional working knowledge with molecular biology techniques.Demonstrated success with oral and written communications/presentations, influence and persuasion, results orientation, facilitation, and teamwork skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Excel macros and pivot tables and Word mail merge.Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Life Sciences, or related field.Experience managing people leaders. Experience in a biotech manufacturing environment, with cGMP, FDA regulated and ISO13485 environment.Working knowledge of PCR and molecular biology.Experience with SAP.#LI-KB1

Salary Range:

$114,000.00 - $182,000.00

 

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to be considered for company stock at hire and on an annual basis.
