Data Analytics & ReportingAs the Senior Manager, Knowledge Management, you will be redefining the practice and delivery of legal services. This role is ideal for individuals with a unique blend of technological proficiency, legal understanding, and an innovative mindset.
You will design and execute BMO’s Legal, Regulatory Compliance & Procurement (LRCP) Knowledge Management strategy. You will also drive innovation by: identifying, implementing, and training LRCP members on current and new technologies, including digital workflow and process automation; enhanced legal research, contract analysis and reporting. You can foster a knowledge-sharing culture by increasing engagement and the use of Knowledge Management tools and information resources. You will coordinate the implementation of LRCP’s Knowledge Management efforts and work with practice groups to evaluate and integrate new Legal Technology and technology workflows into client service.
This role also provides day-to-day operational support to Legal for business managed applications. You will ensure that the data inventory is maintained and refreshed, and is secure, private, accurate, available and usable. You will interpret enterprise data governance guidelines and work with the Data Management Lead on establishing controls and monitoring. You will ensure that the data strategy and management practices are aligned with the LRC Data Governance Policies and Procedures and supports business objectives. You can create a culture where data is managed as a valuable corporate asset, adheres to the regulations around data compliance, and reduces overall risk.
Knowledge Management
Reviews current systems to identify legal processes that can be automated or improved using technology.
Develops and refines a multi-year knowledge management roadmap, setting milestones to align with LRCP’s strategic objectives and technology lifecycle.
Identifies and implements process optimizations by leveraging automation and AI-driven tools to streamline legal workflows and reduce manual efforts.
Collaborates with the Technology team to install new software and systems to assist in achieving LRCP’s strategic goals.
Responsible for the day-to-day management of the supplier relationships ensuring the proactive management of supplier applications, have appropriate contracts and budgets in place, manage access to and governance over the systems.
Designs and delivers training programs to LRCP members on existing and new technologies and reporting tools, ensuring they can use them effectively.
Establishes metrics to monitor and drive user adoption of knowledge management tools, evaluating engagement and effectiveness to ensure data-driven adjustments are made and implement necessary improvements.
Builds out a robust content library by establishing content curation, version control, and archiving protocols. Regularly updates resources to maintain relevance and accuracy, monitoring engagement metrics to improve user adoption and effectiveness of knowledge-sharing tools.
Stays abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain competitiveness.
Data Management
Works with the Data Management Lead (DML) to establish data inventory (structured data) or properly identify repository (unstructured data).Completes annual data inventory refresh.Works with the DML to establish thresholds for critical and moderate data elements.Assists the DML with monitoring and controls as needed.Formulates and implements data management techniques, including quality data collection practices, quality assurance checks, data governance standards, and regular root cause analyses, to ensure data adequacy, accuracy, legitimacy, and security in alignment with LRC Data Governance Policies.Documents and implements the data management practices for TOCA Legal in accordance with the LRC Data Governance Policies and Procedures.Supports the design and implementation of TOCA Legal’s data governance framework by establishing operating procedures and guidelines that meet LRC requirements and regulatory standards.Supports data management implementation and acts as the Data Steward for TOCA Legal on data reporting, audit and regulatory requirements.Escalates data issues and exemption requests to the LRCP DML and/or Enterprise contacts as required.Develops regular data reports, using metrics to provide insights on data trends, quality, and compliance for senior leadership.Documents data flow, systems and processes to improve the design, implementation and management of business/group processes. Monitors the data controls to confirm effectiveness.Attends the quarterly DML-hosted forum to raise data quality issues.Troubleshoots data-related problems and authorizes maintenance or modifications.Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications
Typically 7+ years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Advanced expertise in legal operations, legal technology tools and platforms, including Tymetrix, iManage, and related enterprise software, with a focus on leveraging system functionalities for operational efficiency.
Knowledge of data governance and management practices, supporting structured approaches to data quality, data integrity, and metadata management – In-depth / Expert
Change management experience or certification (e.g., Prosci, ADKAR) to facilitate technology adoption and promote user engagement across LRCP is preferred.
Project management training or certification (e.g., PMP, Agile) to effectively lead cross-functional initiatives in knowledge management and data strategy.
Experience in establishing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) specific to knowledge management and data quality, using metrics to drive actionable insights and data-informed decisions.
Strong analytical, creative, and problem-solving skills to support innovation and strategy in legal operations and knowledge management.
Salary:
$84,000.00 - $156,000.00Pay Type:
SalariedThe above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
