Senior Manager, Global Scientific & Regulatory Affairs

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager of Regulatory Affairs to drive innovative initiatives, secure new ingredient approvals, and ensure regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) approval process and have a proven track record in project management related to new ingredient approvals. Additionally, the candidate should have a solid grasp of food-related regulatory compliance and risk management, with a good working knowledge of regulations outside of the United States. Experience in regulations for plant-based proteins would be an advantage. This role demands strong collaboration with cross-functional and global business partners. The candidate will work closely with regulatory authorities and represent the company at trade organizations to advocate for our interests and stay abreast of regulatory developments.

Key Responsibilities

Innovation

Coordinate regulatory approval programs: to obtain GRAS and/or novel food approvals for new ingredients, approval for expanded use of existing ingredients, and facilitate expansion to other countries. Engage with external consultants to prepare and submit regulatory dossiers in one or more countries for approval.Enable the advancement of R&D projects with regulatory assessments and guidance.Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on regulatory strategies and compliance initiatives.Manage new or expanded approvals for food contact materials through the FDA food contact notification process.

External Engagement

Monitor and analyze regulatory trends and emerging issues to proactively address potential impacts on the company’s products and innovation pipeline.Collaborate with industry associations and regulatory bodies to influence policy development and advocate for favorable regulatory outcomes.Provide regulatory solutions to customers for our ingredient portfolio, helping them integrate our ingredients while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Compliance

Interpret and implement U.S. regulations, providing sound guidance in alignment with company policy.Identify potential regulatory risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure compliance.Advise on package labeling, common names, product safety, risk assessment analysis, and label claims.Advise on compliance requirements of the EPA Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).Provide regulatory guidance for safety data sheets, approval of new raw materials, and FDA facility registrations.Ensure continuous improvement of regulatory processes and systems to enhance efficiency and compliance.Provide training to cross-functional team members on regulatory requirements and best practices.

Qualifications candidates will have:

Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Food Science, Food Regulation, or a related field with significant industry related regulatory experience (.8-10 years+)Knowledge of plant-based proteins, starches, and clean label ingredients is desired.Strong technical writing skills for detailed regulatory submissions and scientific reports.Critical thinker with the ability to apply regulatory principles to advance ingredient approval petitions.Thought leader on best practices, scientific integrity, and transparency within the regulatory space.Excellent communication skills with diverse audiences, including technical teams, business partners, and senior management.Excellent problem-solving abilities to navigate complex regulatory challenges.Strategic agility and motivation to engage fully in day-to-day executional work.Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with regulatory authorities and global partners.Proven track record of successfully leading multiple projects simultaneously, delivering results consistent with management’s expectations.

Pay Range:

$144,640.00-$192,853.33 Annual

This pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Final base salary will be determined based on several factors which may include but are not limited to responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data and applicable bargaining agreement (if any).

Incentive Compensation:

As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Ingredion Annual Incentive Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus.
