Position Overview

Are you excited by leading a team to solve technical challenges that come with building a scalable, highly available, performant platform used by millions of users worldwide? Autodesk's Platform Services and Emerging Technologies (PSET) organization is looking for a hands-on, experienced senior engineering manager to join a team of experienced engineers who will build the User Profile and Personalization platform.

You have led teams developing modern cloud services, especially in a fast-paced, agile environment. You know how to build and guide highly effective and high-performing teams while inspiring them to remain at the modern. You excel at both mentoring junior software engineers and guiding more senior engineers. You also have experience building and maintaining a successful working relationship with Product Management and User Experience teams. Most of all, you can inspire a team to do great things.

You will report to a Senior Director Engineer in Identity and Licensing

Location: West Coast, Hybrid work model

Responsibilities

Manage and mentor a team of software engineers

Strong problem-solving skills (data structures and algorithms)

Help achieve a high software engineering standard, including culture, quality, security and resiliency.

Build platform capabilities with GraphQL based APIs and responsive UI

Provide insight, feedback, and recommendations to senior leadership regarding the development, capabilities, and strategic direction of our software projects

Work with architects, product managers, and experience partners to work towards a common vision

Engaged collaborator and trusted advisor contributing to product and business strategy

Responsible for the planning, execution, and success of complex technical projects

Attract, hire, coach and grow top engineering talent

Participate in technical and architectural discussions

Collaborate with geographically dispersed teams and partners

Manage the planning, execution, and success of technical projects

Work with architects, product owners, and experience designers towards a shared vision and contribute to product roadmaps and business strategies

Minimum Qualifications

10+ years of relevant industry experience in a Software company

8+ years of people management experience managing software engineer all levels

Experience managing and resolving complex and ambiguous issues

Deep knowledge of cloud computing stacks at the SaaS, PaaS and IaaS layers

8+ years experience of public cloud service platforms including Amazon Web Services (AWS)

8+ years hands-on experience with important technologies and tools, such as JavaScript/Node.js, Python, GraphQL, Go, React, and CI/CD technologies

Thoughtful decision-maker with excellent communication and written skills

Experience with Scrum and Agile development processes and methodologies

BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $169,400 and $273,900. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
