A day in the life of a Senior Manager, Brand Compliance at VF looks a little like this.
The Senior Manager, Brand Compliance is a pivotal role within the Global Product Stewardship department of VF’s Sustainability and Responsible Sourcing division. This position oversees responsible sourcing initiatives for licensee and collaboration partners of VF Brands globally. The role involves close collaboration with various stakeholders, including VF brands’ stakeholders, licensing teams, the Global Responsible Sourcing team, regional Sourcing Offices, legal, and product stewardship teams. The primary responsibility is to manage the onboarding, monitoring, and screening of VF Brands’ licensee and collaboration factories globally. This includes overseeing factory audits and managing Customer Compliance Requirements.
The Senior Manager leads a team to facilitate and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) of factory audits, ensuring adherence to labor and environmental standards. They coordinate corrective actions and maintain compliance documentation. Specific KPIs include the factory onboarding and screening, number of audits completed, percentage of factories meeting compliance standards, and the effectiveness of corrective action plans implemented. This role reports to the Vice President, Global Product Stewardship.

Principal Accountabilities:
Governance and Onboarding: Develop, publish, and update the licensee factory onboarding governance policy as necessary. Manage the governance and onboarding processes for factories and suppliers involved in licensing, collaborations, and partnerships. Ensure that all new factories and suppliers meet VF’s facility compliance standards from the outset. This requires a strong organizational and communication skill set to effectively manage and update policies.
Supplier Screening: Oversee the screening of new and existing suppliers used by licensees, collaboration partners, gift-with-purchase, and promotional items partners to ensure they comply with company standards and requirements. This includes conducting thorough assessments of suppliers' labor practices, environmental impact, and overall adherence to VF’s facility compliance standards. This role demands a manager with expert knowledge in a specialized field and broad knowledge of several related disciplines.
Responsible Sourcing Initiatives: Develop and continuously monitor responsible sourcing initiatives, where applicable to in-scope facilities. This encompasses the selection and onboarding of licensee and collaboration partners, screening and onboarding of factories, monitoring and tracking responsible sourcing audits (factory compliance, critical life safety, etc.), issuing and guiding corrective action plans, and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs). Ensure that all initiatives align with VF’s sustainability goals and compliance standards. This requires broad theoretical knowledge and the ability to direct the application of existing principles while guiding the development of new policies and ideas.
Team Leadership: Provide guidance, advice, and training for two direct reports. Ensure effective team performance and professional development by setting clear goals, offering regular feedback, and supporting their career growth within the organization. This involves strong people management skills, including performance management and resource planning.
Training and Education: Engage and influence Brand licensing team, licensee partners, collaboration partners, gift-with-purchase, and promotional items partners and their suppliers to ensure they meet VF’s company standards. Provide comprehensive guidance, advice, and training to internal stakeholders and external partners. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and compliance through regular training sessions and educational programs. This requires the ability to adapt style and use persuasion in delivering messages, often advising others on complex matters.
Corrective Action Plans: Collaborate with licensees, partners, and internal stakeholders to develop and implement corrective action plans based on audit findings. Ensure that all corrective actions are effectively communicated, tracked, and completed within specified timelines to maintain compliance. This involves understanding complex issues and devising solutions based on limited information, considering long-term implications and enforcing consequence model for zero-tolerance issues.
Supplier Engagement: Engage and influence suppliers used by licensees and collaboration partners to ensure they meet VF’s standards and social responsibility initiatives. Build strong relationships with suppliers to promote adherence to VF’s facility standards and sustainability goals. This requires the ability to develop recommendations to sell ideas or services and frequently advise others on complex matters.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Meet regularly with purchasing, manufacturing, and sales leadership to ensure in-scope initiatives are being met. Address any issues that arise promptly and work collaboratively to find solutions that align with VF’s compliance and sustainability objectives. This involves translating strategic plans into operational plans and guiding their execution to achieve medium-term goals.
Impact and Goals: Focus on achieving short and medium-term goals by translating strategic plans into operational plans and guiding their execution. Ensure that all initiatives and activities contribute to the overall success of VF’s business, brands, and responsible sourcing strategies. This requires developing and managing operational initiatives to deliver tactical results.

Ensure that all resources are effectively allocated and managed to support the department’s objectives and VF’s broader goals. This involves being accountable for meeting short- to medium-term targets and providing input into the budgeting process.
What do you need to succeed?
Knowledge & Skill Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Equivalent years of experience in a substantially similar industry may be considered in lieu of a degree).
Generally, ten years of progressive experience with three years of managerial experience.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Proficient PC skills.

Hiring Range:
