Senior Manager, Background Screening

This role will be responsible for leading the enhanced screening program. This role is accountable for the guidance and specialize knowledge of enhanced background screening. Also involves maintaining the risk methodology for high risk roles. The Insider Risk team will provide intelligence and insights, bringing awareness to the executive management and communicating both internally and externally in a timely matter at the onset of potential financial crimes activities. **Key Accountabilities:** In support of the overall Corporate Security mandate, the team is responsible for executing the strategic plan for enhanced behavioral monitoring for the Insider Risk Program. These strategies include: + Responsible for enhanced background screening operations to deliver against service standards. + Ensure all aspects of enhanced screening are following CIBC, Privacy, and Global Hiring policies and procedures. + Meet client expectations by effectively managing priorities, deliverables, and ensuring solutions are rolled out in an integrated, efficient and timely manner. + Work with Director Insights and Intelligence, HR, and Privacy to ensure good communication, and compliant with policies and procedures. + Establish process to identify and refer any team members for further investigation to the Director of Intel and Insights. + Establishing a methodology for designating high-risk populations, such as employees with “superuser”-like privileges. + Establishing an assessment methodology and produces output for relevant stakeholders based on its established expertise. + Employs case management tools to ensure integrity and effectiveness of the insider risk assessment and response processes. + Conducts routine exercises to improve integration, analysis and response procedures and processes. + Stays focused and current on threats in an ever-changing environment across the enterprise. + Interact with industry and experts in industry to review and assess program elements to maintain the bank’s effectiveness of managing the Insider Threat. + Providing advice and support to LOB Management to mitigate their exposure to insider Risk. + Conducting related benchmarking to identify best practices and emerging issues; and + Maintaining an awareness of new or emerging insider risk best practices. + Creating a positive work environment and being an effective role model by championing CIBC’s mission, vision and values; + Ensuring compliance with policies, standards, guidelines and controls + Implementing and monitoring projects/programs against major milestones, and take preventative/corrective action as appropriate to ensure delivery on time, within budget, according to specifications; + Ensuring all changes to processes are communicated, documented and implemented through established methodology and communicated to other operations; + Maintaining a strong network of internal relationships to promote exchange of information and ideas and enable completion of activities; + Preparing necessary proposals and budgets; + Modifying, on an ongoing basis, the action plans to reflect changes in objectives and priorities; + Identifying deficiencies within operations for the purpose of developing and implementing enhancements/improvements; + Ensuring that all processes utilized are defined, documented, measured, and maintained; and + Determining, with sufficient lead times, when various resources are required. **How You'll Succeed:** CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: + Regular contact with management, CSII, and internal stakeholders. + Regular contact with peers in the industry. JOB DIMENSIONS: + The incumbent will contribute for directing initiatives across CIBC Corporate Security’s portfolio and mandate. + Assignments are carried out with considerable independence and the incumbent is expected to take initiative in seeking out information. ​KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: + Experience in risk methodology. + Experience in leading cross business unit strategies to address risks. + Good knowledge of general investigative practices, the general regulatory environment and CIBC’s internal policies and procedures covering the identified areas. + Well-developed reporting and presentation skills e.g. PowerPoint, Excel, Tableau. + Well-developed data management, project management and analytics skills. + Effective written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills to prepare reports, assessments, correspondence and briefing notes. + Skilled in presentations/interaction with management at all levels, sufficient to convey complex conceptual information/ideas on issues requiring extensive interpretation and opinion. Experience in applying an appropriate level of discretion when dealing with sensitive issues will be critical to success in this position. + Possession of a professional designation or industry training in the field of fraud investigation or insider risk such as ones available from Association of Certified Fraud examiners (CFE) or Carnegie Mellon University Insider Threat Program (CERT) + Practical and theoretical knowledge of insider threats as applied in a financial services environment; + Strong analytical skills in reviewing data and information to assess risk and interpret findings. + Strong ability to manage multiple projects and/or initiatives simultaneously and under tight deadlines; including those of a high profile or priority **Who You Are:** + **You're** **motivated by collective success.** You know that teamwork can transform a good idea into a great one.
