Senior Manager, Assistant Controller
Job Overview

The Senior Manager, Assistant Controller plans and directs accounting activities within our finance department and will manage a team. This individual will play a critical role in managing the company’s financial operations, including overseeing accounting processes, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing strategic financial insights to support business decisions.

Job Responsibilities Assist in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, targets and accounting. Participates in the compilation and review of various financial statements and reports, including foreign currency translation and consolidated financial statements. Provide technical comp competency to ensure compliance with corporate financial policies, legal requirements and GAAP. Direct the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures. Direct the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses, and insurance records. Direct internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls. Establish system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems. Coordinate preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting. Review financial statements with management personnel. Directs the installation and maintenance of new accounting, inventory, property, and other related procedures and controls. Maintain the general ledger; perform basic accounting functions for all facilities with an emphasis on closing and adjusting functions and reconciliation of various accounts. Complete and review year-end processing; finalize prior year’s records.  Review and/or complete Account Reconciliations monthly. Prepare and review information and worksheets for independent auditors. Analyze general ledger accounts for questionable transactions; backtrack transactions to origin and provide explanation. Assist Controller with financial management of the ESOP and 401K plans.   Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities. Foster a collaborative and results-driven environment focused on continuous improvement and operational efficiency. Complete special projects as assigned. All GLC employees are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures.
  Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.   7 years of accounting experience or more. 3 years of management experience or more. General understanding of manufacturing processes. Ability to make sound, independent decisions based on management expertise and experience.   Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem solve. Able to work in the US without corporate sponsorship.
  Preferred Education and Experience Master’s degree in Management, Accounting or Finance Previous consolidation accounting experience. Previous foreign currency translation experience. SAP experience.   Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
