Senior Legal Writer – Practical Guidance - Technology Law Specialist

About the role
The primary purpose of this role is to be the internal and public-facing SME for the practice area and develop and maintain high quality up-to-date practical legal content on technology and related areas of legal practice. The job will include preparing and maintaining practically focused content as well as practical resources for our popular Practical Guidance product that is Australia’s most established and trusted ‘how-to’ of legal practice. It will also involve marketing and promotional activities and provide support to customer relationship managers to help build brand awareness and influence market share across clients and stakeholders.
This role is a full-time permanent role, but might also suit someone looking for flexibility and less than full-time. Some regular in-office time is preferable (Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane), but there is also the opportunity to work from home. Interstate applicants outside of Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane are welcome to apply.
With strong experience as a practising lawyer, you will have a solid understanding of the practical processes relevant to technology law.
Responsibilities
Creation and maintenance of content, including guidance notes, checklists, precedents, legal updates, content marketing and thought leadership articles.Quality Assurance: Checking and ensuring quality of all content is legally correct, reflects current market practice trends as well as ensuring correct grammar and English is used.Maintaining close relationships with the market to ensure the highest standards of content relevancy and currency.Build and maintain strong working relationship with external authors/advisors.Develop and maintain relationships with legal professionals to ensure best practice and jurisdictional expertise.Provide Engagement Managers support and partner with customer relationship managers to understand customers’ needs.Build cross-functional relationships to leverage best practice across global teams.Requirements
5+ years PQERecent experience in Australian mid to top tier law firm or in-house counsel role in mid to large corporateA practice background or keen interest in technology law and proven ability to adapt to new practice areasA keen interest in emerging technologiesExcellent communication and plain-English writing skillsProven aptitude for building and fostering relationships with a range of diverse clients and local and international stakeholdersExperience in corporate business environment and aligned to legal experience also desirableWork in a way that works for you
