The Department of Molecular Medicine and Haematology in the School of Pathology of the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of the Witwatersrand, is a highly productive, research-intensive entity conducting cutting-edge life science research at clinical, cellular and molecular levels. This work has a direct impact on understanding, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of human disease. The Department teaches more than ten undergraduate courses in eight-degree programs managed by several course coordinators. The department offers postgraduate courses at honours, master s and doctoral levels, with more than 40 postgraduate students annually. The Department has active research programs and conducts basic science and translational research in molecular medicine and diverse aspects of Haematology.
Brief DescriptionKey responsibilities include the following:
Lecturing of undergraduates and postgraduate students
Course co-ordination in the Department
Course alignment with the Faculty and University teaching and learning plan
Setting, invigilating, marking and moderating examinations
Course evaluation, monitoring and evaluation
Participation in relevant Committees of the School and Faculty
Relevant administrative duties in the Division, School and Faculty
Supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students
Execute research within an area of expertise and interest.
Requirements:
Qualifications: PhD, preferably in health sciences or any directly relevant related field of
Teaching experience at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels
Must be computer literate and able to use software to execute the above duties
Teaching/training experience with a favorable teaching portfolio
