Senior / Lead Marine Systems Engineer

We are looking to recruit an experienced Senior / Lead Marine Systems engineer (secondment to staff) for client.
The job
As a Senior / Lead Marine Systems Engineer, you will deliver engineering output in line with the project’s technical specification, budget and schedule. You may work as part of a team or lead a team of Marine System Engineers and Designers.
You will be responsible for the design and conversion of all the marine systems, equipment and marine piping on an FPSO. You respond to queries from Site, Client, Certifying Authority and Subcontractors on time. If necessary, you perform activities abroad or on-site (shipyard). You report to your Lead or Project Engineer on progress, setbacks and concerns and signal technical risks and anomalies to your line manager.
You can expect to perform a variety of tasks, including:
- Conceptual and basic engineering of marine systems and piping on FPSO and SPM systems;
- Creating equipment specifications, P&ID’s, arrangements and design reports;
- Engaging in procurement-related activities such as vendor communication, technical bid evaluations and package engineering;
- Determining heat balances, pipe sizes, power requirements etc.;
- Participating in design reviews, HAZIDs and HAZOPs;
- Obtaining client and third-party approvals for the project and assisting the yard site team.
Requirements
We are looking for an engineer with strong leadership and social skills, who takes ownership, is proactive and enjoys solving problems.
- A Bachelors or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, process engineering or naval architecture (with marine specialization)
- Over 6 years of relevant experience in marine systems basic engineering, preferably in the offshore oil & gas industry as lead engineer or owner’s representative.
- Knowledge of and experience with ship (tanker) design, like pumps, coolers, valves and engines.
- Familiar with rules of classification societies (ABS, DNV, BV and LR) and international codes and standards (HSE UK, Marpol, Solas, PFEER etc.)
- Fluency in English, both verbal and written
- EU passport is mandatory for easy (possible) travel to yards (worldwide) for feed studies and potential EPC phase of projects.
