At Smith+Nephew we are looking for: Senior IT Security Engineer (Okta)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Okta Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure identity and access management (IAM) solutions using Okta. Your expertise will play a critical role in protecting our organization’s digital assets and ensuring compliance with security standards.

You will support Okta IAM systems with various security tools, monitor for potential security breaches, and conduct assessments to identify vulnerabilities. Strong technical expertise in Okta and IAM technologies, along with a solid understanding of security best practices, is essential for this role.

What will you be doing?

Design and Implementation: Lead the design and deployment of Okta solutions, ensuring seamless integration with existing applications and infrastructure.User Lifecycle Management: Oversee user provisioning and deprovisioning processes, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Implement SSO solutions across various applications using protocols such as SAML, OAuth, and OpenID Connect. Configure MFA to enhance security measures.Troubleshooting and Support: Provide technical support for Okta integrations, addressing issues related to user access, authentication failures, and system performance.Security Best Practices: Advocate for security best practices within the IAM framework, ensuring adherence to compliance standards and conducting regular audits of access controls.Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest trends in IAM technologies and Okta features. Propose enhancements to existing systems to improve efficiency, security, and compliance. Documentation and Training: Develop comprehensive documentation for IAM processes and configurations. Provide training to end-users and technical staff on best practices for using Okta effectively.

What will you need to be successful?

Identity and Access Management (IAM) Expertise: Candidates should have over five years of experience supporting OKTA solutions, along with expertise in installing, integrating, and deploying IAM products like Okta, SailPoint, or Entra ID. A deep understanding of IAM protocols such as SAML, OAuth, and OpenID Connect, as well as experience in Identity Governance and Administration, User Provisioning, Access Certification, Identity Analytics, and Role-Based Access Control, is essential.Cybersecurity and Risk Management: Applicants should have hands-on experience with vulnerability management and risk assessment processes. Familiarity with cybersecurity standards and frameworks like ISO and NIST, as well as working knowledge of cloud computing platforms and cloud security frameworks, is required.Project and Lifecycle Management: The role demands experience managing projects through their full development lifecycle. Candidates must also demonstrate project management expertise and the ability to effectively communicate security technology issues in both formal and informal settings.Privileged Access and Advanced Security: A minimum of three years of experience in Privileged Access Management is essential, showcasing advanced security skills in handling sensitive access controls.Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills, combined with excellent customer service abilities, are vital for this role. The ability to work independently without daily supervision is also important.Organizational and Problem-Solving Abilities: Candidates must demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively. Problem-solving and follow-up capabilities are key to excelling in this position.
