We are seeking a Senior IS Engineer based out of Amgen’s Ireland Dun Laoghaire facility, reporting to the Senior Manager of Information Systems. This role is in support of Infrastructure Operations, having the primary responsibility for all activities related to Database administration. The Senior IS Engineer role necessitates a collaborative individual with a physical onsite presence to integrate with the infrastructure operations team. This position serves as a primary contact for databases with the on-site automation teams and is essential for supporting local site automation engineers, local system owners, and project teams on critical manufacturing operations and projects. Additionally, the role is responsible for maintaining site cyber resilience to ensure continuous operation during any cyber event, necessitating the maintenance of on-site systems independent of network and regional offsite support. The Infrastructure Operations team is the global enterprise administration group that manages physical and virtual hosting, including private and public cloud hosting options - operating systems, databases, middleware, storage, and backup. The primary database technologies supported by this group are MS-SQL and Oracle with some PostgreSQL and MySQL databases. **Responsibilities** + Database administration responsibilities include installation, upgrades and optimization, security access control administration, backup/recovery, disaster recovery support, development and test environment support, documentation, recommend automation and process improvements. + Review/approve application and database design decisions to ensure that application solutions exhibit high levels of performance, security, scalability, maintainability, reliability upon deployment + Co-ordinate database administration functions for development, test and production environments + Investigate and resolve technical database issues. Participate in rotational 24x7 On-Call Support and assist/lead Root Cause Analysis reviews when applicable + Function as a technical project leader for less experienced personnel on a portfolio of databases, including installations and upgrades of DBMS software, backup/recovery strategies and high availability configurations + Guide and plan implementation & configuration of Database software related services to support business requirements (OLTP, decision support, standby DB, replication) while keeping database security regulations, policies, and best practices in mind + Define logical attributes and data inter-relationships and design data structures to accommodate database implementation, maintenance and accessibility to enhance performance + Develop and document standards, procedures, and work instructions that increase productivity for operations + Perform necessary security patch implementations to ensure ongoing database security + Understanding of NAS storage and execute commands such as snapshot creation, restoration **Basic Qualifications:** + Master’s degree and 2 years of Information Systems and Database Administration experience + **OR** Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of Information Systems and Database Administration experience. **Required Qualifications:** + Experience managing and administering Oracle Database and related services & monitoring systems + Proven experience automating database provisioning, patching and administration + Experience with various DB toolsets to review performance, monitoring and troubleshooting issues + Understanding of ITIL frameworks and best practices + Understanding of operating system tools for performance and troubleshooting issues + Excellent data-driven problem solving and analytical skills + Proven experience as part of a high-performance team **Preferred Qualifications:** + Proven experience with Oracle RAC and Data Guard + Experience with MS-SQL including Always on Availability technologies + Experience working on regulated systems (preferably in Pharma sector) + Excellent communication skills + Change management expertise + Skill in persuasion and negotiation + Experience leveraging PowerShell for automation. **Professional Certifications:** + Database certifications (OCP, Microsoft Certified) (preferred) **Soft Skills:** + Data driven decision-making abilities + Stakeholder communication and expectation management + Crisis management capabilities.
