Job Description
African Infrastructure Investment Managers (“AIIM”) is one of the pre-eminent private equity infrastructure managers in Africa, having raised over USD3.9bn in capital over the last two decades. With 5 offices on the continent, AIIM has invested in more than 22 African countries, representing over 74 investments across the Power, Digital infrastructure, Transportation and Midstream sectors. AIIM is a wholly owned subsidiary of Old Mutual Alternative Investments (OMAI), one of the largest private alternative investment managers in Africa, with assets under management of USD7.6 billion. OMAI manages private equity and impact funds as well as infrastructure funds through AIIM. Role Overview
This role is responsible for directing, coordinating and administrating all aspects of the IDEAS Fund’s legal and financial structuring, risk management, capital management and operations at the Fund level and within the portfolio companies. The role incumbent is seen as the custodian of all Fund legal agreements and is required to advise on complex structure implementation, transactions, and compliance requirements.
Key Result Areas
Works across all transactions within IDEAS and in conjunction with advisors, provides thought leadership on the optimal structure of our funds and investmentsDirects, coordinates and administers all aspects of the funds financial and legal requirements, risk management, capital management and operations.Plays a lead role in structure implementation, managing implementation and changes.Ensures that transactions are optimal and in compliance with investor requirementsEnsures compliance to fund legal documentation including finance agreements across the portfolio (e.g. fund liquidity facilities and guarantees)Works closely with Legal and Tax, Fund Accounting, Strategic Initiatives, CoSec, Operations and Performance Reporting teamsWorks closely with IDEAS CIO and Portfolio Manager, IDEAS Fund Accountant and IDEAS Team Operations Manager and maintains oversight of the full IDEAS Portfolio.Works closely with the OMAI Operations Team to ensure accounting and reporting data and systems are accurate and being used optimally and recommend any improvements. Project Management in respect of implementing complex transactions including securing all necessary approvals from investment committee, investors, lenders, regulators and other stakeholdersSkills, Qualifications and Experience required:
Relevant financial or legal qualification (CA(SA), Legal (LLB), Tax, MBA, BBusSc, etc.) +7 years infrastructure, investment banking, private equity, fund management and /or operations experience Strong network and relationships with legal and financial advisors, investors and banks as well as accounting and operations specialists Successful track record of leading project teams with high level stakeholders and qualified professionals. Familiarity with unique disciplines of structuring, negotiating, closing, and monitoring transactions. Good working knowledge of key commercial statutes and regulation (e.g. Tax, Companies Act). Have a history of repeatedly delivering major and long-term change programmes or strategic initiatives. Previous experience on transactions with complex legal and financial structures.Competencies

Also responsible for maximizing the value of investments by managing an investment department or unit.
Risk Scenario ModelingUndertake strategic and tactical risk modeling and scenario planning for business-critical decisions to support business strategy and to identify and mitigate risk in line with the risk appetite. Advise on modeling of risk scenarios to comply with the risk appetite.
Financial Policies, Guidelines, and ProtocolsLead and coordinate the development and delivery of financial policies, guidelines, and protocols across the business to ensure the company complies with regulations and good financial practice.
Leadership and DirectionIdentify and communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the business area or department; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision, and values; motivate people to commit to these tenets and do extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.
Financial Management and ControlManage a significant portion of the organization's financial management and/or control processes.
Operations ManagementManage a significant operational area for the organization.
Performance ManagementManage and report on performance within the department or area of responsibility; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports and hold individuals accountable for achieving them; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of annual business objectives.
Internal Client Relationship ManagementManage relationships with strategic internal clients and act as a business partner to them, building high levels of professional credibility and mutual trust, and mobilizing appropriate internal and/or external resources to support in delivering business strategy and plans.
BudgetingManage budget plans for a department. May involve development or delivery or both.
Internal CommunicationsManage certain aspects of the internal communications system with some guidance from senior colleagues. This could mean being responsible for the development or operation of the system.
Organizational Capability BuildingEvaluate the capabilities of staff within the department to identify gaps and prioritize development activities. Implement the organization's formal development frameworks within the area of responsibility. Coach and mentor others to support the development of the organization's talent pool.
