Airswift has been Tasked to find a Senior Instrumentation Engineer (Control Valves) to work in Rotterdam, NL under contract for one of our major costumers.
Location: Rotterdam, NL Duration: 1 year contract (possible extension) Start Date: ASAP Work schedule: 5 days/week – 8h/day – 2 days WFH/week
Tasks
The role of the Senior Instrument Valve engineer comprises of the following tasks:
Continuously consider cost, constructability, operability and maintainability. Prepare specifications for various valve packages based on Group Technical Standards (GTS) and specific client requirements as applicable. Act as Package Engineer for instrument valve packages and work in close cooperation with the Package Manager and Buyer of the Supply Chain Group to perform technical bid evaluations. Guide and coach more junior valve engineers in the office as well as engineers in other locations worldwide. Review of vendor documents and support inspectors with FAT Advise material/corrosion engineers on the most cost-effective valve body and trim materials available in the market to balance cost, quality and delivery time Challenge vendor proposed control valve solutions with respect to sizes, materials and valve type Specify the appropriate actuator type and pneumatic or hydraulic control scheme where applicable including partial valve stroke test functionality. Specify the appropriate control valve positioner diagnostic requirements to match the ICSS valve asset monitoring software. Translate Functional Safety requirements as specified in the Safety Requirements Specification in actuated On/Off valve datasheets. Review valve specifications prepared by Engineering sub-contractors to ensure quality and consistency with standards. Ensure that the selected valves are fully in line with the Regulatory regime, international guidelines, Classification requirements, standards and Client requirements. Provide assistance to Supply chain Category Manager in qualifying (new) valve vendors. Provide input to Group engineering- and technical standards and Guidelines for preparing, evaluating and testing of valve packages. Provide technical input and review relevant GTS valve and material standards. Support Operations in troubleshooting and provide advise on measures to be taken to resolve operational valve problems. Provide technical support to Brownfield projects Based on GTS and client requirements prepare project performance standards for mentioned valves
Profile
University or Technical College (BSc degree), with at least 8 years’ experience in Instrumentation valve Engineering in the (upstream) Oil & Gas industry. Thorough understanding of international standards API 6A and 6D including performance requirements and ISO actuator requirements. In depth knowledge of API and ASME BPVC requirements for pressure relief devices. Fundamental knowledge of control valves and relevant ISO and IEC standards is required. Good understanding of IEC61508 & 61511 requirements. Experience with control valve calculations is required, preferably with CONVAL. Fully competent in the engineering use of SmartPlant Instrumentation. Experience with Aveva Engineering is an advantage.
Qualifications
A pro-active approach; taking initiative; problem solving and creative thinking; professional communication in English (verbal and written); conversant with MS Office applications; willingness to travel; team player, looking beyond discipline boundaries, safety conscious.
Candidates to Note
The requirement of the profile is for a candidate who is technical specialist in Valves (Control Valves/On-Off Valves/Safety Valves/Pressure relief Valves) and who is willing to develop as Pkg Engineer/technical Expert. Candidates who wish to move into leadership positions like project lead will not be suitable.
