Senior Instructional Systems Designer (ISD)

The NISC IV Training Group (NTG) within the Leidos is looking for a highly motivated individual for a Senior Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) role to join our team in Washington, DC supporting the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Office of Commercial Space Transportation (AST). The candidate will support Government staff in the following:

                                                                 
- The Senior Instructional Systems Designer (Sr. ISD) will design innovative, instructionally sound learning products that effectively convey content while engaging learners. This role includes coordinating the development and delivery of all client training courses, using creative visualization and design techniques to enhance the learning and development curriculum. In a dynamic environment with a constant flow of projects, the Sr. ISD will need a keen eye for graphics and be proficient in using a variety of applications to develop and manipulate graphics, illustrations, photos, models, and animations for training and learning solutions.
 

- The Sr. ISD will apply instructional design and adult learning principles to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate a variety of instructional courses, assessments, job aids, and other learning deliverables. They will create materials for all phases of the course creation lifecycle, including analysis documents, design documents (e.g., course outlines, storyboards, prototypes), and final learning deliverables (e.g., Adobe Captivate, Storyline courses, instructor-led materials, and job aids) that align with overall business goals. Additionally, the Sr. ISD will collaborate with peers, leaders, and business partners to translate business requirements into learning objectives and project scope, ensuring that all deliverables meet or exceed quality standards.

Primary Responsibilities:

Apply ISD knowledge and experience to develop in-classroom instructional materials and methods, including but not limited to training plans, storyboards, narrative scripts, graphics, tests, evaluation methods, and scenarios.

Assist with identifying and creating instructional material to address field-driven performance shortfalls and client training needs.

Develop course documentation, including course design documents, instructor/facilitator and student guides, course syllabus, practical exercises, assessments, and related materials.

Partner with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure learning objectives are appropriate for the audience, proposed content, and align with the needs of Project Spectrum’s clients and Project Spectrum’s business objectives.

Conceptualize, design, and produce visual solutions for a wide variety of formats and dissemination outputs, while managing multiple design projects with minimal supervision as part of an interdisciplinary team

Interpret subject matter content and develop original designs and visual styles and effects using adult learning principles.

Utilize extensive knowledge of graphics software to design and produce interactive multimedia presentations to enhance course material.

Advise the Course Development Team on all imaging, video, and graphic design matters.

Research subject matter to convert text themes or ideas into illustrations or graphic designs.

Partner with SMEs to develop course outlines, design documents, storyboards, and other learning design deliverables.

Develop fully functional eLearning courses, instructor-led courses, and blended learning courses, and assist in creating learning labs and exercises.

Ensure all courses are Section 508 compliant.

Clearly convey information and ideas to the learning audience through a variety of media, engaging them and enhancing content retention.

Advise senior management on the technical advantages and disadvantages of multimedia formats and styles, as well as industry best practices for effective course design.

Basic Qualifications:

BA degree and 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant experience.

Application of sound instructional design principles

Knowledge of Adobe Captivate

Articulate Storyline

Visual design for adult education

Audio recording and editing

Excellent written communication skills

People management and Task management skills

Experience with SCORM, Section 508 requirements, and technical specifications for Learning Management.

Demonstrate strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

8 or more years progressive work experience in instructional design to include training industry experience (instructor-led, online, and in blended environments)

Pay Range:Pay Range $78,000.00 - $141,000.00
