General Responsibilities:
In this roll you will investigate buildings and sites to identify physical and/or environmental risks. Perform and/or manage asbestos surveys, asbestos management planning, operations and maintenance plans, asbestos removal budget estimates, abatement oversight and air monitoring services, health and safety training and planning, qualitative exposure assessments, employee exposure assessments, noise and hearing conservation, ventilation and lighting surveys, mold assessments and remediation monitoring, indoor environmental quality investigations. Develop sampling strategies and analysis. Research and application of regulatory standards and hazard data. Evaluate sampling results and provide high quality written and verbal consultation to a wide range of clients to meet specific project needs. Prepare reports outlining findings, conclusions, and recommendations and coordinate on-time delivery with internal quality control reviewers. Coordinate with contractors, regulatory agency representatives, and internal Terracon industrial hygiene practitioners.
Job Responsibilities:Inspections and Assessments: Conduct thorough inspections and assessments of buildings and industrial facilities to identify and evaluate potential asbestos-containing materials, lead-based paint, and mold contamination.Sampling and Analysis: Perform air, bulk, and surface sampling to collect data on asbestos fibers, lead particles, mold spores. Coordinate laboratory analysis of samples and interpret results to assess the level of contamination.Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with local, state, and federal regulations related to asbestos, lead, and mold. Ensure that clients and employers comply with applicable laws and regulations, providing guidance on necessary corrective actions.Occupational Exposure Assessments: Evaluate and quantify occupational exposures to various chemical, physical, and biological agents in the workplace. Conduct exposure monitoring and sampling to assess worker exposure levels.Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Assessments: Investigate and assess indoor air quality issues in buildings, identifying sources of pollutants, ventilation problems, and other factors affecting air quality. Develop strategies to improve indoor air quality and prevent occupant health issues.Abatement Oversight: Provide oversight and management of asbestos and lead abatement projects, ensuring that removal or remediation activities comply with regulatory standards. Review and approve abatement plans and monitor the effectiveness of control measures.Chemical Exposure Assessments: Assess chemical hazards in the workplace, including evaluating the effectiveness of control measures. Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs to educate workers, contractors, and clients on the hazards as well as proper safety practices.Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of inspections, assessments, and sampling activities. Prepare comprehensive reports outlining findings, recommendations, and compliance status.Client Communication: Communicate effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to convey findings, discuss compliance strategies, and address concerns.Emergency Response: Participate in emergency response activities related to asbestos releases, lead contamination, or mold outbreaks, providing expertise to mitigate immediate risks.Requirements:Bachelor's or master's degree in industrial hygiene, environmental science, occupational health, or a related field.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) required.Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.Experience in conducting hazard assessments and developing risk management strategies.Minimum 10 to 15 years’ experience.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
