Senior Industrial Engineer
Job DescriptionOnsite - Position requires an employee to be onsite on a full-time basis.

The Role:
Senior Industrial Engineer will work directly with Production leadership in implementing lean manufacturing systems. The main purpose of this position within the Trim/Final Process CI team is to work to eliminate waste of time, money, materials, person-hours, machine time, energy and other resources that do not generate value.  This position will also lead and coach other CI team members the best methods and processes to do all of the above. The ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment is critical to your success at General Motors.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

Lead and coach other CI/IE team members best practices in lead manufacturing to achieve department goals and objectivesImplement common Industrial Engineering business practices and processesDesign work operations that meet safety, quality, and efficiency requirements with high integrityMaintain accurate time studies through motion analysis and application of standard time dataMaintain accurate routings of parts to their assembly locationMaintain accurate workstation layouts using computer aided drafting software (AutoCAD)Drive continuous improvement efforts in assigned area through elimination of wasteEvaluate bottleneck areas and support throughput and productivity improvements in assigned areaSupport change management projects by developing line balance plans and participating in production trialsReduce total cost by improving productivity metrics related to operator work loading and value-added percentParticipate in lean manufacturing through implementation of GM’s Global Manufacturing SystemSupport implementation and training for standardized work developmentBecome a coach and teacher of lean manufacturing principles to the production floorDrive problem solving effortsWork collaboratively as one team with all levels of the organization Develop relationships with Production department and related personnel
 

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technical disciplineStrong experience working in manufacturing with a background in continuous improvementWorking knowledge of computer aided drafting tools (AutoCAD / SolidWorks / Line Designer) Experience in documentation of standardized work procedures Experience in implementation of lean manufacturing concepts Knowledge of time study and motion analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of human factors engineering / ergonomic analysis Excellent skills in Microsoft OfficeAbility to adapt to different interpersonal styles and communication methods Project management and time management skills
