Senior Industrial Designer (Remote)
As a Senior Industrial Designer, you are expected to lead multiple projects in parallel and develop industrial design concepts independently. You are a key influencer in design strategy, and you work efficiently with limited guidance. You take the long-term view of Co. design language, provide context for current choices, and guide future hardware designs with the right perspective. You define key ID features and selling points, identify the best solution for the product requirements, and validate it with the CFX teams. You can work in ambiguous situations, where product requirements and specifications are not yet created and the root causes of problems may not be fully known. You are able to lead larger projects and design a strategy that appropriately splits the work into sub-components to be designed and developed by other CFX teams in parallel and then reassembled successfully into a cohesive design. You can clearly document CMF specifications, select the right supplier(s), and drive the fabrication processes & trials. You drive mindful discussions with vendors, and peers, and you understand the business impact of your designs and show good judgment when making trade-offs (e.g., time spent on research vs. materials vs. cost vs. vendor/manufacturing approach).

Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for all stages of design development from the concept to mass production. Candidate must excel at common design deliverables such as 2D concepts, quick prototypes, CMF, technical graphics, advanced 3D models with class-A surfacing, and photo-realistic renderings for presentations.
Take a leadership role in the development of design language and future design strategy for the Ring hardware.
Work with CMF design team and deliver a unified vision for the color, materials, and finish design.
Collaborate with engineers and suppliers to achieve best production quality in terms of craftsmanship, cost, and engineering.
Support engineering team with mechanical integration, DFM & DFA, quick prototypes ranging from broad design themes to functional-level design.
Sync up with other designers, engineers, and program managers across different time zones with expected early morning and/or late evening time online meetings weekly
Mentor junior designers and provide technique/approach guidance where needed between design reviews.
