Your impact:

The Hearst Magazines Enthusiast Group is looking for a Senior Editor to join its Service team for Runner's World and Bicycling. We’re seeking an energetic, driven, and detail-obsessed team player to help oversee our brands’ fitness, health, and nutrition content across multiple channels—websites, magazines, video, social feeds, etc. The Senior Editor will help publish our daily content across all platforms, identify current trends, and collaborate with team members and other groups to deliver innovative, effective service content with a focus on membership conversion and retention.

You’ll stand out by displaying a willingness to create and target content to surpass performance metrics—stories with a discrete goal such as membership conversion and engagement—each day. A background in search-based content and the core interests for each of our brands is highly recommended: health and fitness, cycling culture, running culture. You should feel confident packaging and editing stories for both editorial and search success with compelling imagery, attention-grabbing headlines, and clear, authoritative copy. Even better: You're a pro at diving into data and using reporting tools to inform content strategy.

Our brands are the authorities in a number of key categories (training, health/wellness, racing, injury prevention, bike fit, etc.), so a genuine interest in our coverage areas is a must. This role reports directly to the Director of Service Content, sits in the Enthusiast Group office in Easton, PA, and works closely with a variety of departments, including Editorial, Design, Photo, and Video.

Job Duties/Responsibilities: 

* Under direction of the Director of Service Content and Deputy Editor for Health & Fitness, originate and edit content that meets performance metrics
* Work with the service team editors to stay on top of editorial service content calendar, develop new online pieces, assign/file/top-edit stories as necessary.

* Create cross-platform experiences for readers in various channels, from digital to print to social.

*Act as a brand ambassador who actively networks in the fitness space, attending gear launches, meetings with trainers, attending press trips as needed.

*Collaborate with video team/social team on video shoots to cross-promote strong performing content

Job Qualifications:

• At least 4-6 years experience working for a digital media brand, ideally in the health/wellness/fitness space or service-oriented brand

• Ability to pitch and assign fitness-specific stories that meet overall content goals

• Experience with SEO-based content and finding service angles from news or timely events

• A keen sense of what’s new and trending in the health/fitness space and an ability to find a brand-specific angle on timely topics. Bonus: passion for running and/or cycling culture. 

• Demonstrated experience publishing digital content within a CMS and working with analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Google Trends

* Willingness to represent the brands in other media (articles, videos, podcasts, etc.) 

* Ability to thrive under multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines

* Openness to collaboration between teams, a positive, go-getter attitude, and ability to embrace teamwork

* Fitness or training certifications from are preferred

• Bachelor's degree

The base salary for this role is between $68,829-$70,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

This is a position covered under the Writers Guild of America, East, Collective Bargaining Agreement.
