Akamai's Infrastructure Engineering & Operations builds and maintains one of the world's largest distributed platforms. Our team is responsible for designing, sourcing, qualifying, and testing servers destined for our growing network.

Partner with the best

As a manager, you will lead a hardware engineering team. The team is responsible for developing and qualifying new server hardware platforms. They design servers and develop firmware for our global platform consisting of over 300,000 servers across 130 countries. You will partner with leaders and various teams to deliver next-gen server platforms from concept to deployment.

As a Senior Hardware Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for:

Defining the technical strategy and roadmap while managing execution to ensure successful delivery of critical programsLeading and developing a growing hardware engineering teamCollaborating across the organization to develop products that excite customers today and innovate for tomorrowProviding technical leadership and guidance to team members and ensure adherence to best practicesManaging OEM, ODM, SI, and component vendors relationships including running RFPs and negotiating cost and supplyDriving continuous improvement in hardware development processes to optimize quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness

Demonstrate experience managing one or more engineering teams, including performance management, career coaching and mentoringHave a proven track record delivering large-scale hardware projectsDisplay in-depth knowledge of Hardware Engineering, Firmware Engineering, and New Product Introduction (NPI)Demonstrate expertise in server design considerations such as component selection, thermal management, power distribution, and mechanical constraintsDemonstrate experience working with manufacturers and supply chain partners to handle vendor evaluations, cost negotiations, and logistics
